Um, all localities within the US must adhere to the Constitution as they grant specific rights. Would you like it if a municipality prohibited any form of worship, whether to God, Buddha, or Allah? If you're not religious and don't care, what about prohibited speeches in public?
Of course, gun rights are the easiest to p*** on for "progressives" as they're not rights they typically exercise.

Cool. Churches should also be banned in DC and no speeches allowed where MLK stood to give his "I have a dream" dealy. Sound good to you?

There was no outrage from citizens over the laws passed by their elected officials in 1975. The people that brought up the court case, recruited people to be the plantiffs.
But in reading of the whole 2008 ruling, gun owners may find themselfs serving, just a bit more then thier fictional militias.
Maybe I can now legaly build my rocket in my back yard. You never know when martians might attack.
