Iraq has a government and an Army. Policing Iraq is not our job. Quite frankly most of us don't give a Sunni what happens there anymore. It is not our problem. We handed them democracy- it is up to them to make it work.

The 35,000-50,000 troops that will remain after that, until 2011, is part of an agreement that Bush signed with the Iraqi government.
If they are all gone by 2011, I will be happy with that. I would like to be gone now but I will trust our President on this.

We 'handed' them 'democracy' via 'shock and awe' - not the best way to do it.

Example... saying there is pork or earmarks in this bill depends on what the definition of (is is) or earmarks/pork is.
The withdrawl plan was not Bush's. Bush wanted a permanent presence there. It was the Iraqi government's plan.

They will only be there for an additional year...

As a prior poster mentioned, Dubya signed an agreement with the Iraqis requiring ALL US troops to be out of the country by the Dec 31st, 2011.

And you're right - it was NOT Dubya's intention to leave - the Iraq government insisted upon it though.

We still have troops in every country we've ever fought a war in.

Get over it. There's a point where ideology has to give way to reality.

It's smart, though, to force the Iraqis' hand to stand on their own two feet. For all the talk of "personal responsibility", conservatives certainly seemed fine spending billions to support Iraq.

I'll never understand politics.

Don't tell anyone, but we will always have boots on Iraqi soil.

Why you ask?

IRAN.

Campaign rhetoric is always trumped by morning intelligence briefings.

Obamanation got his eyes opened the first day he saw the real world of the Middle East and Russia.
Did i say Russia.... Yeh. Those ole' boys aren't going away, they are positioning to take the south and their real good at it, look how they kicked our assessts out of Kyrghyztan.

I actually agree with you. Obama should just do what he promised and bring everyone home from Iraq. Leaving 50,000 serves no purpose but the possibility of more flag draped coffins on TV. It is too bad he does not have the guts to do what he promised. I will go even further and say that what his is doing is really dishonest and chicken-*&^*. I can't imagine how stupid Obama supporters can think 50,000 troops left in Iraq means we have ended our occupation. What do these bozos think? As long as we have 50,000 troops in Iraq we are at war.

I agree completely. It has only created negative feeling towards the US for decades. Bring them all home and shut down all bases.

You think Politicians keep their promises?

Have you seen the debates and rallys where he talked against huge deficits?
Or not raising taxes on anyone but those that make 250k.

Guess what, if you own a house you will no longer be able to deduct the mortgage interest.... is that a tax break or a tax increase?

I could go on, but it's to easy to burn lying politicians... i need something more challenging.
