Despite all the rhetoric about being the "green party", Blue states are responsible for the majority of the greenhouse gasses produced in the United States - the very same gasses they state are responsible for Global Warming. Top Blue polluters include California, New York, Florida, Washington State, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan, Massachusetts, and Ohio.

Texas, the nations largest polluter, just ahead of California and Pennsylvania, is actually a low polluter when adjusted on a per-capita basis. The bulk of Texas' pollution is derived from its petro-chemical and farming and ranch operations. Texas provides refining services to over 60% of the nation. Texas beef literally feeds the nation as well. Texans themselves contribute about the same greenhouse gases per-capita as other rural states, a result of the wide-open spaces they regularly travel. These are offset by the mild Texas winters, which results in lower energy requirements than states like NY, IL, MA, MI, MN, and OH, which derive a large portion of their winter heating from oil and coal.

The study adjusted each states output based on their status as an net importer or exporter, type of industry predominant in each state, weather, population density, predominant source of electricity (coal, nuclear, hydro, natural gas), primary source of winter heat (fuel oil, natural gas, coal, electricity), and other factors necessary to provide an unbiased comparison.

Factoring out the effect of industry produced and exported for use in other states, Blue states, by sole virtue of their population, as well as their geographic locations, produce more carbon per-capita than their Red state counterparts. California, not surprisingly, lead the nation.

All the traffic keeping them from killing themselves on their highways with their high speed limits and long drives.

They're killing our children, murdering the elderly and destroying the middle class.

You realize, of course, that Texas, due to the large ranching industry, will be blamed for most of the cow poots contributing to "global warming".

Lamexican - do not confuse polluted cities with polluters. There is a huge difference.
