Considering our troubles for some time now which country or countries should we emulate? I'm not asking where we should put our money but if we were to copy a country based on healthcare, drug policies, care of the elderly,etc...what country would you choose?
I don't think that a perfect society exists on the planet, but give alternatives, the Scandinavian countries, Ireland, perhaps Scotland seem very attractive. Personally, anywhere in the Caribbean other than Jamaica and Haiti would do nicely. I care more about warm weather, sandy beaches, clear water and good fishing than politics.
Any Scandinavian country, (except Iceland, of course). Those folks are so far ahead of the curve--with progresive social policies, universal health coverage, green technology, a thriving capitalist economy-- they make the rest of us look like dinosaurs.

what about the government treatment of their people? I like your choices for scenery but you got to base it on healthcare,retirement,etc...? There is no perfect answer obviously but it brings into play what we know about other countrie support system. My brother has lived in Ireland for 10 years and healthcare is included and all families that have kids get money from the government (not welfare).
You people really do hate America. Keep on display big and proud for the people who don't to see clearly.
America: This is the faction that took over....
No we don't. We just realize our flaws and more then that we know we have to make certain changes. If a country is doing well because of a good healthcare system(like universal healthcare) maybe we need to see if it works for us.If things work here and there, why can't we make it our own? Do all of our ideas have to come from us?
Since when progresiveness became hate. Since when trying to improve the country means hating the country. Abraham Lincoln then hated America. Theodore Roosevelt then hated America. Is not about hate, is about improving, going forward and keep the USA in the forefront of human liberty and sane foreign policies. Population changes, and the demographics of USA today are not the same as they were in the 50's, or even the 90's.

No, it doesn't mean hate. it means that you don't believe in the way it was created. the foundation of this nation is the perfect way a nation should be run. it IS the forefront of human liberty and sane forign policies. unfortunately, it has been played with by some power hungry politicians who were able to fool voters (republicans and democrats alike) but at the core, if America just returns to its roots, it will remain the greatest country on earth.
All those people who want America to have "universal healthcare like scandinavia" or whatever let them go live where they think that particular country has bette rthan us anyway. there's only one USA, lets not ruin its uniqeness by bringing in things from other countries, but rather bring it back to its unique roots
