You have to be kidding;no wander the police telephone lines are always busy.
I said she should have used the non emergency police line, not 911. But still texdav, if a business took your money and then refused to refund that money seconds after taking it -- would you just walk away from that ten dollars? Or would you be pissed off?
Granted, I am a cheap b*stard but still
I suppose we should be thankful she didn't get postal over it? Falling Down (1993)
I've often been annoyed showing up 10 minutes late for the breakfast menu, but it gave me a great appreciation of IHOP. McSpongy cubes of chicken like matter have no appeal to me, but McD's new policy of stealing can't be good for biz, can it?
Ovocatto-- I disagree with your take on hot coffee incident. Geriatric skin breaks and tears at the slightest provocation, and the drama of those injuries is directly attributable. Would this have been anyone else the issue would be moot. That's the nature of getting old- we have to adapt and compensate for our bodies changing outside our former version of 'normal'. Would I have been on that jury I'd deny her case. Yes, I did read all the details, and I agree with conservatives on that subject. Her insurance restored her as much as humanly possible and the rest was a senior citizen playing the court system like a junket to vegas.
And folks wonder why we are in so much trouble with wackjobs like this walking around?
You know, I read a lot of global media, and nowhere, I mean NOWHERE do I hear crazy stupid stories like this in other countries. Does the U.S. just produce more than their fair share of wingnuts? I mean come on.
A couple of things, no this woman wasn't particularly bright, but then again with the police (rightfully) pushing 911 I'm not surprised that some folks have come to believe that it is the only number for the local constabulary.
Second, I doubt seriously that the police department would have sighted McDonald's if the situation was reversed, a customer taking food items and refusing to pay for them (of course that's why McD's demands their money up front).
Third, folks need to get off the "woman calls about McNugget shortage" when the story is really about her calling about not being properly refunded.
It reminds me of the McDonald's coffee lawsuit when a woman sued for being scalded by coffee at the drive through. Everyone thought the story was ridiculous, no wondering seeing how the facts of the case were ignored by the media looking for a cool story. If anyone took the time to look into the details the woman required extensive care for her burns. She was well within her rights to sue.
Most people have more sense than to do that. The problem is, these days you have to use that qualifier, "most." And for the people who don't fall into that group, well, you see what happens!
perhaps the food is such a poor quality that people are getting dumber. I haven;t ever seen a McD's that wouldnt give a refund... I suspect that could quickly be resolved by a call to corporate headquarters.
Sadly her ignorance is not uncommon. You have to look at the millions that continue to go to this restaurant, knowing the food is gross, it is horribly fattening yet people keep going....hmmm who is it that is dumb?

My brother still lives in FL, and the stories I hear about just daily life down there, you couldn't imagine happening anywhere else.
Whether it's Cuban & Haitian refugees washing ashore, Cocaine Cowboys, the "Elian Gonzales" case, "Terri Schiavo", or chronic voting hanky panky... it seems like there's always something weird regularly coming out of Florida. And let's not forget that's where O.J. chose to retire.

What's ironic is that in many socialist European countries, you'd be laughed out of court for suing an establishment for claiming you were burned by coffee you spilled on yourself.
One reason why socialism "works" (I use the term VERY loosely) in other countries is because people aren't permitted to "game" the system like they do in America.
