It is pretty obvious that there will be no free healthcare. Like a odctor I went to teh other day that has practiced in the UK said that system wouldn't work here becuase not enouhg that work actually pay taxes and our fee system to fund things is too low.

One side effect of President Obama's "conversation" about the future of health care is the paralysis of current health care. I've seen far fewer jobs being offered by local hospitals, and the majority of them are now per diem. The largest hospital system in my area has taken away 3 paid days off from its employees to try to prepare for the 2010 Obama budget cuts in reimbursement.

A friend of mine is an administrator for a HMO that is currently up for sale. All interest from other companies has stopped cold since the rumor of a forum.

Uncertainty is not good for business and not good for creating or maintaining jobs.

There is no such thing as a FREE healthcare system. We're all paying for it so everyone can get the same basic healthcare. We need to have a healthcare system that is not tied to our employment so people don't have to worry about losing or changing coverage if you lost or changed job.

The current system is so wasteful, we're paying a lot more for our healthcare than other developed countries and still have 48 millions uninsured americans.

We required people to have car insurance in California if they want to drive a car in order to share the costs so we should do the same for
health insurance.

There are too many people simple don't want to pay their fair share of the cost and only go to the emergency when it is most expensive to treat their health problems.

This right here says it all. How many of the 48 million uninsured could be insured but simply choose not to spend the money? It's more than you think.

Government run ANYTHING is bad. Look at medicare right now. The government can't regulate itself, how can it regulate something as complex as the entire healthcare system. Would you like your senator dictate how your health should be regulated? And you think the HMO's are bad?

I would rather pay for those that do not have health care ie.welfare then to overhaul the whole program. You guys have no idea how poor universal health care gets.

Loss of Capitalism or not...

You will lose QUALITY doctors with national healthcare. Specialists will no longer be found. People won't go to med school to earn Socialized Medicine wages.

Get real.

Take a look at France, Germany and England. They all have good doctors and good universal health care systems. What they don't have is 48 millions uninsured people and people who file chapter 11 because of expensive hospital bills.

Maybe people cant AFFORD to pay their "fair share". Forcing people to buy something they cant afford is not the way to handle things.
