The column by Representative John Boehner (R-Ohio) in today's WaPo is a real piece of work and takes the prize for sheer hypocrisy and projecting GOP blame onto the other guy.
Excerpt(s):
- operatives and allies of the Obama administration are seeking to divert attention toward Rush Limbaugh, and away from a debate about our alternative solutions on the economy and the irresponsible spending binge they are presiding over.
- Something is wrong when the discourse in Washington is more focused on a political sideshow than ..... and hope that White House political operatives abandon their cynical "change the subject" strategy ....
Apparently Mr. Boehner suffers from selective memory. Diversions? Really now! Sideshows? In DC? Perish the thought!
Just 4 short years ago we were trying to have a national debate on the war in Iraq, and what did the GOP do? They trotted out all sorts of diversionary tactics like that proposed constitutional amendment to define marriage IAW whatever the evango-fascist wingnuts on the far right dictated to The Decider, and then, to keep the diversion going, there was a proposed constitutional amendment to prohibit flag burning. For eight years we got diversions and sideshows on the serious issues of war, health care, balanced budgets and much more while the U. S. Treasury was looted by the rich.
Comes now to the microphone a tall, tan, tird from Ohio accusing the new guys in town of all the same behavior his craptacular party has used for years. The irony of all this hypocrisy is mind-boggling. The Big Lie lives, in the twisted mind and swampy mouth of John Boehner, the Clown Prince of the House Minority Chair.

The GOP spin machine is now in high gear again and they are going to fall back into their Clinton era bag of tricks ASAP. Since the Dems now have the reins,they should ride them into the ground instead of playing games....The GOP have always had a quick lie on their lips and a knife to stab a Dem in the back,now is the time to take the knife from them and return the favor in spades.

Slice and dice suits me fine. Crank up the Vege-Matic.
Boehner is a JOKE. Isn't he the same one who cried his eyes out during an Iraq "debate" back in '06 or '07? He's the king of bringing PORK into his district, (OH 8th). One minute he's blaming the democrats for "diverting" attention to Rush, the next minute he's laughing because all the attention is "good for Rush and bad for the Ds".
He's pissed because he knows very well that the Republican party is bankrupt. Emmanuel's brilliant little tug on Limbaugh's ego set the ball in motion--as he knew it would--and since the Republican party is in shambles, they couldn't rein in the damage. So, as usual, they're blaming the Democrats. Maybe if they hadn't banked all their money on a reactionary, neo-con, Limbaugh-loving "base," they wouldn't be having these problems now.
You equate political differences with entertainment?

You seriously think these are equatable. It's very clear the administration is practicing diversionary tactics in a time of great political debate in a period where deficit spending makes George Bush look like a conservative.... really no surprise here that importance is thrown out for grandiose over Rush.

Hypocrite is too kind a word for this buffoon.

Is that Iraq debate of '06 and '07 the one that Dems tried so hard to keep the Surge from happening? Is that the one when Dirty Harry Reid and Saint Barack of Hopenchange both proclaimed defeat hoping to keep the Surge from getting started? Somehow I think that was the same story you are howling about.

The one he weaseled his way around and couldn't manage to give all credit where deserved.

What??? Most people aren't fooled by the little side show Obama's trying to stage to distract John and Jane America away from the fact that not only is Obama's proposed government programs and policies decimating their savings and retirement funds, but they're also enslaving their and their progenies' futures to pay for them a la indebtedness for Obama's trillion dollar-plus budget deficits.
Well, wait a minute, liberals and Dems seem to be distracted by it. ...let's talk about Rush.
