Ya know... if you like government intervention and governemnet lifestyles, there are PLENTY of other countries YOU can go to to enjoy those fine qualities. You don't have to turn THIS one into another one of which there are way too many... and for the record, Im not a neoCON rightwinger either, just a citizen that can't stand the weak mentality of "the gov should come save me" and "the gov doesn't do enough for ME" being spewed all over the place today... And its this mentality that now describes exactly what majority of this country has become... Disgusting !
I don't now, nor have I ever known anyone with the mentality you describe. I would think that if a majority has this mentality, as you claim, I would have met someone with such. Everyone I know works. Virtually everyone I've ever known has worked.

You should take a quick peak outside that little closet you seem to be living in... Last I checked the "majority" voted in a Gov with a spending package out of this universe ! And on top of that, most of that same majority is stupid enough to think that someone else is going to pay for it !!! Noooo... there's nobody with that mentality in the America. It's all just a dream right ?!
My parents immigrated to this country with almost nothing and after 30 years, they are both American citizens, successful and they know for a fact that no other country on Earth would have allowed them to have the kind of life they have today. Growing up, I heard so many similar stories from people who came to this country with almost nothing and after 3, 4 years, they already had their own small business. If there is one thing about this country that makes it so incredible is the fact that everything is possible here, which is the essence of America and the reason why this country is so great.
When I hear Obama talk about Socialism, big government and higher taxes, I feel really angry and frustrated because so many people like my parents came to America in particular, because America offered something that no other country offered: freedom, liberty, limited government and economic opportunities.
Like them, so many other immigrants left behind countries like Germany, Ireland, Italy and many others because they knew America was much better.
Immigration is one of main reasons why this country has been so successful for the last 200 years. If this country is no longer attractive to immigrants and becomes just another mediocre socialist European style bureaucracy, I am afraid, it will be the end of America as we know it.
You want to save America... pick up a few guns I think your going to need them. WE have those in this country who like big government and they call themselves Republicans and Democrats, the rest of us stand together and we call ourselves Americans.

No one I know, and virtually no one I've ever known, is looking to the government for handouts. No one has ever said anything remotely similar to "the govt should come save me," as you claim. And I've known literally thousands of people in my 51 years, so that closet I'm living in is a tad larger than you think.
As to the election results, it's a blatant error in logic to conclude that voting for Obama is synonymous with "the govt doesn't do enough for me." When Bush was elected, did you conclude that people voted because "the govt hasn't bombed any Islamic countries lately?"
What most people have told me regarding their vote has been that the Republicans have screwed things up royally. Time for a change. That's my opinion as well. The Republicans could have nominated Jesus Christ and he would have lost. Of course, living inside a tiny right-wing closet, as you do, you wouldn't know that.

According to you and the election results (which I at this point care less about), since the Republican party "royally screwed things up" the ONLY OTHER option for leadership of this country was a Democrat... (Along with the stereo typical nonsense about both parties you think I'm inferring somewhere) even though you or "people that told you" may not agree with what the candidate represents. Correct ? Liberties are constantly being taken from us little by little. That is not what AMERICA is, actually was about when created. I've had enough ! Problem is too many others haven't. For those that haven't, take a hike to a different country where your liberties are already limited ! The world doesn't need another country like the hundreds that already exist. Pick an existing one, move there... and live happily ever after !
Our Gov made up of both the right and left have ROYALLY SCREWED THINGS UP. And will continue to do so cloaked amongst the stupidity of the American citizens. It's apparent more so now than ever with this ridiculous spending package that can never get paid for. And that EVERYONE I know (and probably you too) strongly doesn't agree with. But according to you was the ONLY option on election day. Arguing that either party is going to fix things is just ludicrous in my mind. The Gov today doesn't have yours and my best interest in mind. How are the problems with our two-party system equivalent to a majority mindset of "the gov should come save me?" That doesn't make any sense.
I'm not crazy about the system myself, but that's what we have. Regardless, I've never known anyone with the mentality you describe. That's the point. That's why I wrote, "Pay attention!"
