It really isn't a big deal, because:

1. Gordon Brown hasn't even mentioned it publicly;

2. The British population as a whole couldn't care less. The fact that the US President even agreed to see Gordon Brown before any other European leader was seen as a surprise by many here;

3. Obama is hugely popular with the British public, as will be seen by the enormous welcome/interest he will receive by the public in early April.

Maybe the Obama bashers should be a little more critical of the unthinkable burden that George W has left the current administration and be thankful that at least the person in charge has a brain! 2 wars, huge deficits, massive spending (with no way of paying), failed international diplomacy, failing infrastructure, science on the backburner, erosion of civil liberties, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.. and people are whining because Obama gave Gordon Brown a DVD set..

This is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while. Can there be any doubt that obama and his WH minions are nothing but a bunch of friggin amateurs, lightweights and incompetents.

What did he think the leader of the free world would be doing all day?

Ignoring foreign policy/national security cause we're to exhausted is an invitation for another attack.

They probably didn't realize they were supposed to give a gift in return - is anybody at the obama WH even remotely aware of tradition and decorum for visiting heads of state?

I have an image in my mind of a low-level staffer rifling through obama's CD tower frantically burning discs of his favorite artists.
It is embarrasing if you hear what Obama's wife Michelle came up with to give as a present....and than DVD's that won't work in Europe....is this called the most powerful country or the most embarrassing country!
