Well Jadex, first we have pending legislation in Texas, that is going to pass, that has 68% of Texans supporting it and the Texas Restrant Association. We are starting with Bars to tell them how to run their business, just as most of the country tells restrants how to run theirs. We have all kind of regulations reguarding the operations of business.

Seems like CEO's and investment bankers need a little help too, and I am looking forward to the SEC and Treasury getting right in the middle of their shi+ also.

That bar owner has a state and local licence to operate, now he has a choice, not open or run it by the rules. See I believe in choice

The smoking ban for bars went into effect here last july, several bars have seen business decline or closed the doors for good. The most noteworthy was "Billy Joe's Pitcher Show" having been around 20 years and loved my many.

I don't understand why they can't license bars just for the smoking public and put a sign on the entrance "smoking only", or perhaps allow bars to convert to a private club where you have to be member to enter.

Of course they exempeted casino's and you can still smoke there, because the state doesn't want the law to cut into their action.

We just saw our state tax on smokes go up from .36 to 1.36 a pack here a couple years ago, then last year they passed the fire safe cigarette law that makes the smokes taste like crap. Missouri is the place to go, 22 cents a pack for state tax, they stoke up half the midwest.......gotta love it while it lasts.

Everyone should just quit smoking and start chewing tobacco if they crave nicotine.

That way they could have their fun and others wouldn't be forced to participate when in public places.

Also, most importantly, chewing tobacco never started a forest fire. It's a fact. Google it.

I think YOU need to be "googled"

Chew causes cancer too...It would be nice if we could ALL stay away from any "tobacky" products.....I'm (hopefully) on my last pack as I write this.

You have to realize that smoking bans are not about health concerns, it is about power. Obtaining it and keeping it. In Anchorage, AK, they banned smoking in public parks, but they did not ban bar-b-ques which produce more carcinogens than an entire carton of cigarettes. These people are not interested in your health, just your money.

The reason Indian casinos were exempted is because they are on federal lands, not state lands, and therefore they not subject to state laws or state taxes.
