Some women do this. Some men do this. I don't see the point in the broad sexist generalizations. It's demeaning and offensive.

I have to disagree with that. There are some women (like me) who wouldn't like to be the trophy of some rich dude. For what? To be totally useless with no job, no studies, and a child bearing machine?! I prefer to serve my country part time while I finish law school.
I prefer a guy who treats me well, with a similar personality and a similar physique to me (sorry, no buffy guys over 6'0") . A steady job is preferable over lots of money, and studies are more important than a killer body. Why would I want a rich guy? To buy me expensive stuff and not have time to be with me? No thanks. And a guy with a physi-culturist body? I make really good food, and I don't want him to substitute my food (made with love) with tasteless salads and awful supplements.
And yes, men are super shallow. All the guys I've known only wanted me for my body, and not because I'm an independent woman who knows how to take care of herself; I take great care of my body, and I would never do any kind of plastic surgery, unless I had an accident that leave me with no face.
Honestly I think it depends on the Man/Woman and how they where raised...But in my opinion, Men are ***holes and women don't know what they want...
The men thing is kinda self explanatory....
The women thing...women say they want a nice guy who is sweet and kind and opens doors and has money...but that is a lie...What they want is a guy who will spend money on them, ignore them, call later to beg for forgiveness, just to do it again the next day.
We're each just shallow in our own ways. Society tells us all that men should be winners(according to whose standard? Depends on who you were to ask.) and as a result, men opt for finding the most attractive woman we can find to showcase our success, and those women look for indicators of success in a man such as income or material things. So the shallowness regarding to looks is more common and men, whereas women are more often victims of society's materialism.

Because it's important to men. Every thread about Miss California morphed
into a discussion about her breast augmentation rather quickly. It's appalling that a man would encourage a woman to have that surgery, just
to satisfy his own ego. It isn't done for the woman's pleasure; implants can
be dangerous, can eliminate breast sensitivity and can interfere with if not
preclude breast-feeding. I actually thought about starting a thread telling
men that they need penile implants, because average just isn't good enough. In most species, the male is more colorful or elaborately created in
order to attract a female; perhaps inverting that characteristic in our own
species has only perverted our cultural behavior.
Men are wired to be attracted to the most fertile, attractive female. That is why men are always going for youth. Who will give them the best chance to carry on their genes.
Women are wired to be attracted to the best providers. That is why money and success means a lot. Who will be able to provide for my offspring.
