From the article:

Quote:
"One trend that we see is that particularly Bermuda-based companies are now moving to Switzerland," said Martin Frey, a partner at law company Baker & McKenzie. "That may only partly be obviously for tax reasons, but also for security reasons and the fact that the Obama administration may go after them."
Most of these companies are tax cheats who already left the US a long time ago. There moving out of Bermuda because Bermuda is negotiating with the US to let American authorities audit Bermudian tax returns to ferret out American tax cheats. There are a lot of corporations and rich people who are US citizens and who legally must pay taxes on foreign income but who deliberately and illegally evade taxes. Greater transparency and government cooperation can make life a lot harder for these tax cheats.

No takers? I thought that was everything you were willing to sell america down the road for to bush-- zero taxes, no more government, and a few bucks in your pocket.

Ohh wait I get it, I had to placate you with lies about your ego. Plus your appetite is much larger. Let me talk to the owner and see what I can do for you, pal.

Ok, REAL patriots of this gosh gee golly RED (white and blue) america fight for free lunch, an easy buck, and a six pack. The jobs are in switzerland, and our beloved corporations need saving, so we need to colonialize switzerland for their own good. Just don't let on that you're doing it. It'll be our little secret, and you'll get a hero badge for your stealth mission to colonialize switzerland and protect american corporations from the scourge of free enterprise & capitalism.

And ZERO taxes!!! AND free lunch!! AND no more BIG GOBERMINT, because you would have abandoned the whole thing free and clear!!! That's right, no money down, free and clear, the insufferable burden of liberty is removed from you!

Plus I love god and so do you, so we're practically kin. Remember Ollie North? You can be a hero getting your fair share of scammy tires too! Here's your chance! Do it for the gipper! We'll even give him a badge and send him to switzerland to supervise operations post humously!!! But wait... theres MORE!!!

Really, you don't want to stay in commie pinko states anymore with liberals running amok, dogs and cats sleeping together, science being taught in science class... it's really going to get 3rd world any minute now with rapture index peaking. Natural disasters and locusts will start at any time, so do NOT delay, this offer is for a limited time only.

SAVE YOURSELVES from the worst man made disaster that is the republican party!!!!

Real patriots turn tail and never suffer inconvenience. Like the american hero's of old... our beloved F troop.

Switzerland will be nice and cozy, with bavarian beer, a hottie german chancellor nearby, FOX news is broadcast 24/7 so you'll experience no withdrawl symptoms, and nobody will expect you to be politically correct because they know where you came from.

Considering all the disgruntled republican noise I've heard swearing end times are near, I'm quite shocked to see zero direct messages or replies to this blog for hours. They've all seemingly run off to other threads where they can nit pick and whine about another sensationalized headline.

$1,000 cash for the deed on your house in a banana republic going to hell in a hand basket is a very generous offer. Plus all the sucking up, repeating everything they want to hear, and patriotic talk...

I just don't get why they won't offload their liberty or stake in collossal taxpayer debt to me when clearly the financial rewards are theirs. America is a pig in a poke, socialism will mean stalin will rise from the grave any moment now.

Maybe there's something to that 'pledging your lives and fortunes' stuff afterall?

Nah, they're off in another thread messing with america's head hoping she fails. When you're a cowardly turd you can't help but want to smear everyone else so you aren't lonely.

You have no argument. China consumes less then 40% of its GDP. The only thing it contributes to the world market is slave wages. Most all the workers cannot even dream about purchasing the junk they are making. If it ever comes to a point where they can, the factories will simply pack up, move to some other lower wage hell hole, and leave China as a shell, like they did the US.

Nominal values. Did you know that Zimbabwe had the best stock market performance (% wise) in the whole world, nominally speaking? Measuring it in a flawed currency such as the dollar is even more meaningless.

The Chinese are savers and are accumulating wealth at unprecedented rates. These "few" yuppies pointed out in the picture didn't exist a few years ago. Now they're exceedingly abundant and quickly accelerating in numbers. Eastern Europeans, Australians, and Russia can't get enough of cheap Chinese crap, and me thinks that demand is going to do just fine without America.

China's GDP purchasing power is 105th in the world. So nominal actually helped your argument........

China is still exporting 20% of its junk to the US. Between the US and Hong Kong, thats about 35% of all its exports. By the way, seems to me, that outside of Germany, Chinese stuff is NOT that popular in Europe, and even though Russia is sitting right on top of China, and even though it has the 9th largest population in the world, less then 4% of its exports are going to Russia.

However, dispite that information, assuming if the companies there wrote off the US....who cares? The US still has a colossal consumer base, and another company will gladly step in and pick up that demand who wants to play ball. As I said, let Nike try to make up the lost revenue across the globe. Buh bye. A new shoe maker will come in and clean up in the US. In fact, I can promise you that dozens of major shoe makers will spring up.

This has gotten so off-topic. The OP was on companies transferring their articles of incorporation to Switzerland. It was pointed out that the majority of those companies were transferring incorporation from the Bahamas and the Caymans, not from the United States. Companies have always incorporated in the place they find most favorable. Why do so many companies incorporate in Delaware, rather than in Georgia? Is Delaware a hotbed of industry? Not. Where a company incorporates has little to do with where the company operates. It doesn't even have anything to do with where corporate headquarters are. Companies choose to incorporate in the places where they can keep the most file cabinets locked. So this thread has nothing to do with companies moving off-shore, it has to do with privacy and tax liability.

It takes nothing to consume, especially when the consumer is buying primarily on debt. Consuming is fun and everyone wants to do it, and the demand will go to those who have true productive capacity. That won't be the US.
