Manufacturers are struggling to keep up with demand, and many gun shops running low on stock as the US public buys weapons in anticipation of tighter controls.

On the campaign trail last year Mr Obama proposed restoring a Clinton-era ban on several types of military-style semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines, as well as background checks for buyers at gun shows, and other "common-sense measures".

Yes, this boom in gun sales started while Obama was running for office.
I think he and the gun manufacturers are in it together....

A. the gun makers stir up the rabble into thinking Obama will take their guns so THEY SELL MORE.

B. And Obama lets them spread the lies ...it sells more guns and HELPS Obama stimulate the economy....

Kinda awkward for the Obama-hating gun-toters

Say what you want about Obama - I'll bet some of his biggest contributors and supporters in 2012 will be gun and ammunition manufacturers and dealers.

The better question is, what will these people do with all the stuff they're hoarding if we don't have a civil war, and if all of it is outlawed, how will they ever use it without the police being on them as soon as they pop a cap?

What fools these mortals be...

Who wants to outlaw all of it?

I never heard of anybody wanting to do that.....

I voted for Obama, and I will be getting a couple of guns before the laws are changed. This is one issue I don't trust Obama with.

Ummm...OK. Well the police around here are some of he biggest gun rights advocates I know. The urban cops are different that way, but our smallish Departments out here are not going to give ANYONE a hard time about "popping caps" () as you say. This issue is a LOT more complicated than a lot of folks are giving it credit for.

Um...if we have a civil war, law enforcement will be too scared to pry these weapons from citizens' hands, and may actually help them out or join them. Happens a lot during civil wars where local law enforcement actually helps out the "resistence" with additional guns, grenades, and bullet resistant vests.
