I could not believe what I heard today coming from Chuch Schumer regarding the AIG bonuses. He said something like they would be taxing those bonuses at 100%. Folks, this is beyond scary, the guy sounded just like a dictator right out of some craphole Third World Country. Is this what this administration has in mind for us?
Is this some kind of joke or rampant idiocy? Why should they get paid for failing to deliver the goods? They should fall on their own swords for their blatant greed and dishonor. Don't you pay taxes? You do not see the greed and thievery? You pay someone for doing a lousy job and then you give them an exorbitant bonus? Are you hiring? I'll fax you my resume.
What's a joke is the fact that the US Treasury owns 80% of this corporation but pretends to be poweless to control its actions. Geithner needs to have a heart to heart discussion with the CEO and make it plain that the compensation model is changing at AIG, and if anyone has a problem with it, including the CEO, the state has an unemployment office in lower Manhattan.
Why are we going through these charades when the gov't has a controlling interest in this company?
You totally missed my point! It is not about the bonuses or who is right or wrong, the whole "threatening" aspect of it is downright scary. Do what I want, otherwise, I will tax it all. Can't you see how twisted the concept is? I can see how they can go from doing this to threatening citizens, either do what I want or I will tax 100% of your earnings, this is exactly how a tyranny starts. This is America, not North Korea.
Dog and pony show to let the American "consumers" know that the government is doing their job.
BTW..someone should tell the government that they handed over that money with no strings attached !
