Book deals are legal; but, if anybody bothered to follow the money trails of these Congressional book deals, I'd bet my bottom dollar someone would go to jail.
They are way to easy a way for big contributors to funnel additional money to a candidate - and the publisher's love them since they are guaranteed a profit.

Well, now it was revealed that Obama signed a deal for a childrens's book days before he was sworn in. Slipped that one in to make sure he had the deal done BEFORE he was President.
He's just a gift that keeps giving. Book deals, zipping to Cali for a Jay Leno appearance and ESPN appearances with his basket ball picks.
Never mind that silly economy issue or that they just printed 1 trillion dollars to lend it to ourselves and is going to throw us into hyper inflation.
