It will look like this year. We are on the slow slide to hell, and I expect the entire decade to involve a multitude of small wars, natural disasters, rising energy/food costs, increasing debt loads, stagnant wages, blockbuster movies, an ever-increasing number of diversions and boring, poorly paid jobs. The world won't end, but by 2020 we might wish it would, if only to escape the humdrum existence of a US middle class that's going nowhere fast.
