While the OP's premise is off base (liberal vs. conservative in 1776? Ha!) it's still an interesting question.
I think that as societies become more urbanized and developed, the people require more services, and more regulation is needed than there was before. This is because people are living closer together in cities and realize that people affect others. Hence public health codes. Also, look at the idea of public education. People realize that there's a connection between poverty and a lack of education. People also realize the connection between poverty and crime, (which affects everyone) so we institute universal public education to create a more prosperous, safer society that benefits everyone. Some call it socialist, (it isn't) but those in the developed world call it common sense.
And once again you are so off the mark as to be...
"Take America."
Let's.
"Our country was started essentially so conservatives start anew;"
The entire concept of conservative vs liberal is such a misnomer when discussing 18th Century political thought through 21st Century dogma.
"weak central government, no federal income tax. freedom to worship, and freedom to bear arms."
Accept that they rejected the idea of a weak central government when they rejected the Articles of Confederation for the Constitution. The issue of federal income taxes wasn't even an issue in a economy where few of the citizens depending on "income" for a living and as the testimony in Heller amply demonstrated there were indeed a number of restrictions on the bearing of arms.
The rest is just a jumble of incomprehensible rants with little basis in historical facts.
too bad for your theory that is not the way our founding father looked at the bill of rights.
Greece was once the superpower. Today, Greece is a middling socialst country.
Rome was once the superpower. Today, Italy is a middling socialist country?
France was once the superpower. Today it's a middling socialist country
England was once the superpower. Today it's a middling socialist country.
Hmmm, I see you haven't answered the question. Looking at your list of degenerates, I see 4 countries that I would live in & that millions of people love. So, do you think you could attempt to answer the question this time?

Hi K, you make an excellent point! I think there are (unfortunatly) plenty of people on this list that equate power and money (for some) with sucess of their country, rather than good living standards for all. . . . that is shame, and certainly not my description of a successful society!
So are we to believe that the Puritans(1630) and the those involved with the Crowns venture in Virginia (1606) are now to be considered with the Framers of the Constitution (1787)?
I do not consider socialism the end result of a degenerate society but the right and proper economic system of a progressive, fair and equal opportunity society.
Indeed 5% of our wealthiest citizens pay over 50% of the income taxes. As they own 95% of the wealth they are grossly under taxed.
The top 5% earners own 95% of the wealth? What hat did you pull that out of? It's more like 59% of the wealth. And oops! The top 5% pays 60% of the taxes ON INCOME ALONE. Now, let's add property taxes, capital gains taxes, and business taxes. And shazam!. Sounds like those five-percenters. are grossly over taxed.
"Our country was actually started by liberals who distrusted the conservative crown government in England."
with;
It's funny how Puritans (Plymouth) and participants in a business venture (Jamestown) are suddenly liberals when it serves an argument. Any other time these groups are the liberals anti-Christs.
Implies that the Puritans and the members of the Virginia Company were the founders of the United States or that in some vague way the principles espoused by these groups/individuals in the first half of the 17th Century some how held sway over the principles that would be espoused some 150 years later. I personally see no connection between the three outside of some 4th grade history yarn.
I am hostile to your post. Historically you are wrong.
The pilgrams who came to America at first believed in communial land ownership. If you give food and shelter to a person even if they don’t work, why should they work? Some call that socialism. What is the incentive. Thats the problem with redistribution of wealth. It did not work and the pilgrims changed their rules.
This from Thomas Jefferson's Inaugural Address of 1801. The author of our Constitution
Still one thing more, fellow-citizens—a wise and frugal Government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another...and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicities.
They came from England to be able to worship freely and to escape unfair taxation.
but they are paid a lot, lot, lot, lot less, do you not get that??? there is no profiteering for the working class.
geezus..
When will liberals understand that more wealthy people mean the poor also get weathier? Repeat after me, and this is the biggest think liberals don't get:
WEALTH IS NOT A ZERO SUM GAME.
