Ryan Motes' wife and another woman (right) leave the scene while Dallas police Officer Robert Powell detains the NFL player outside the emergency room.

Thoughts?

I saw this on CNN and our local news had a piece on it. The officer should be fired imo.

The cop was stupid. He was in a hospital parking lot, should have given him the benefit of the doubt and wrote the ticket bedside if he absolutely had to write the guy a ticket for blowing a red light.

I guess rushing to the hospital for a dying loved one was not explanation enough, the cop had a language comprehension barrier and couldn't see the humanity in the situation.

Just another cop with a ticket quota and common sense blinders on.

Complete and total idiot cop.

Not much interest here. I guess we would rather talk about Obama and conspiracies

I searched and found the full video of this incident - I don't see any racial issues, but don't agree with his actions.

The link doesn't link to a story, just the front page.

You have ice water if not poison in your veins. You defend a pig over some ones dyng loved one? You should be sharing donuts with that useless waste of human flesh street thug with a tin badge. You are despicable and I wish I/we all can tell you what we really want to tell you but this forum dont allow it.

This reminds me of the other news story last month when the young married couple was rushing their pet to the Vet. A donut connoisseur with a spare tire around his grotesque belly pulled them over and watched the dog die as they pleaded with the pig to let them get the dog to the Vet which was right aound the corner.

The only thing more dangerous then a pig are those who like and trust them. Shame on you.

Not ice at all. I based my comments on the video posted in the other thread. Its a short video, and did give the whole story. I edited my thread. I bet you won't.

Here's the video.

Ryan Moats Video Stirs Controversy, Gets Dallas Cop Disciplined --NFL FanHouse

It's clear that this rather punk-ish officer was concerned more about stroking his own ego than he was Mr. and Mrs. Moats creeping through a red light, with hazards flashing, trying to get to the bedside of Mrs. Moats' dying mother.

An officer and a gentleman would have asked Mr. Moats to go up to the hospital room and tend to his family, while the officer wrote the ticket and served it on Mr. Moats later. A punk cop would have purposely detained Mr. Moats until his mother-in-law died, just to teach that [******] an attitude lesson.

Had that been a luxury SUV being driven by the husband of Jenna Bush, and they crept through a red light with hazards flashing, desparately trying to get to the bedside of a dying grandma Barbara Bush, it damned sure wouldn't have turned out this way.

I haven't seen the video of the incident so I won't give an opinion. I usually give officers the benefit of the doubt because they have a very tough job and I understand that (unlike some of the people in this thread). 99% of police officers are very good people and they are just like you and I.
