So what if the preamble is omitted? This isn't the least bit subtle -- it's blatant satire. Only an idiot would believe it's really what it "purports" to be.

When I taught Swift's, "A Modest Proposal," to my students, I didn't preface it with an explanation of how oppressed the Irish were. I had them read the text without introduction so they got the full effect of the satire.

Google "Homosexual Manifesto." There's a huge population who think it's real. Of course, they're all wingnuts, so what do you expect?
