There is a reason their ratings are pathetic.

That's very true. The signs that I saw were overwhelmingly about politicians and gubmint. There were very few that had a name on it and that understandably was Obama but for the most part the people I saw were against out of control gubmint spending and party did not protect you.

People were not the angry seething whiners that the left wing media is trying to portray.

I would say that the hundreds of thousands of protesters that gathered in this way have at least the local political hacks concerned about the upcoming elections, as they should.

They are spending more than can be repaid, that concerns people from all teams, as it should.

Next time let's call for a Rant Fest! let's make that happen... July 4th, 2009

I'm not sure which event(s) you attended. The two I attended had a nice cross-section of their respective communities protesting irresponsible spending above and beyond anything else. We were protecting taxes (whether direct or caused by future inflation) that we understand are inevitable when so much unrestrained spending happens. We are now on track to double the federal debt in nine years. I simply didn't see any other issues being protested. But then again, I was there and am not depending on the MSM to tell me what my opinion is today.

As for these "Tea Parties" being organized by a partisan group...well, if you support mass amounts of money being printed out of thin air and these multi-million dollar companies to continue jumping after "bail outs" than you're just an idiot and have no idea what this country's foundations were built on. Sorry for you. It has nothing to do with one side or the other..this is affecting everyone, including your children, your children's children, and your children's children's children (just like the Social Security crisis! *gasp*)

Personally, I think the tea parties were just fine. Protesting is an American tradition, and as long as it's peaceful I think it's healthy. Like normie, I'm not thrilled by the idea of throwing stuff into the water (that's as bad as breaking windows, in my opinion.) But most of the protests they showed on the news were just gatherings in a park. People wearing tea bags as hats.

The crowd in my town was not impressive, more people show up for a sale at Kohl's. But does it matter? The point is people were able to peacefully vent. I doubt it will make any difference in the scheme of things--protests rarely do. I mean let's get real. Protest marches have about as much influence as a post in this forum. Nobody here changes their mind because they read a post they disagree with, and nobody changes their minds because someone holds a protest. Protests and forums are simply a way to express difference of opinion.

By the way, I am very proud of our new president. I think Obama's doing a great job, and if he keeps doing this job as well as he has been I don't think he's going to have any problem getting re-elected. But I don't mind if people who disagree want to assemble and be heard. It's the American way.

Good post.

If people want to protest and organise themselves why do some here have this NEED to denigrate and run them down....
