It has high ratings because most of America is ignorant, unintelligent and they are sheep. Plus, it's the only on of four major news channels that panders to that audience. CNN, MSNBC and PBS divide up their viewers, but Fox News has a monopoly on their demographic.

Would you say that American Idol and Dancing With The Stars are more intelligent or better shows than "Dexter" or "Meet The Press"? Well, they are both far higher rated, so in your mind that means they are better. Same goes for "Two and a Half Men" and the better shows that win the awards. Just because more people watch them, doesn't mean they are better. Plus, by definition, average is quite stupid. An average American has an IQ of 100, which is really low. They don't have the capacity to comprehend much for themselves, so they require others to tell them what to think...nobody does that more than Fox News.

If you don't think it's right leaning, you are absolutely delusional. I can say I am President of the United States, that doesn't make it true. "Fair and Balanced" is in quotes for a reason, there's no study to back that up or anything that proves it to be accurate, it's just a marketing phrase.

And Hannity and Colmes is a HORRIBLE example that proves OUR point that Fox News is biased. That show was pathetic, Colmes was the weakest person they could find and it was basically a platform for Sean Hannity to stroke his ego. There is very little that ties Colmes to any liberal politics. He's never once given money to a Democratic candidate for office and the only thing that makes him a Liberal is that he says that he is. The guy started his career as a comedian, he's probably a liberal like Stephen Colbert is a Conservative...
Criticisms

While Colmes describes himself as a liberal and his Fox News biography describes him as "a hard-hitting liberal," he has sometimes been referred to disparagingly as a "Fox News liberal"[7] and less telegenic than Sean Hannity.[8]

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., compared Hannity & Colmes to a Harlem Globetrotters game, where Colmes' "whole job is to lose every argument." Kennedy read a quote from Colmes made after President George W. Bush declared "Mission Accomplished" in 2003: "Now that the war in Iraq is over, shouldn't the people in Hollywood who opposed the president admit they were wrong?," arguing that the scripted quote was right-wing propaganda and claiming that Colmes is not a liberal commentator.[9]

Bob Garfield, interviewing Colmes for On the Media in 2003, asked him if he was "the human straw man" and a "foil" rather than an equal of Hannity. Colmes replied that if the conservative members of the audience saw him that way, that was "their problem," and said "It's more fun for me to be in a situation like this than to preach to the choir."[10]

Clearly your vocabulary is not very big if you've never heard that word before.

It IS how he got elected. His policies were identical to Edwards, Kerry, Clinton and the rest of the Democratic party. If they wanted real change, they would not have been such sheep and would have voted for Libertarians, Independents and other third parties. People ARE sheep, that's why so many people still believe in Christianity even though there's absolutely no reason for it in a modern society.
