Despite Fox doing well in TV ratings and the right wing commentators doing well in radio ratings, the nation went the other way in elections. People must be influenced by other media too - noteably the internet.

I agree somewhat with you that the some of the media did give Obama a preferential treatment. I recall they were far more harsh on Hillary than on Obama. OTOH, McCain did not do himself any favors and could not really connect with his audience with any distinctive ideas - people desperately wanted anything but 8 more yrs of Bush. Many Republicans and most independents did not vote for McCain. I think in general, people are influenced by the media but with a long election cycle, they can see which candidate is better of the 2 average choices we had. One cannot blame the media for everything.
