That won't prevent them from foaming at the mouth and blaming Obama for Stevens' October conviction.

They can't recall who was president last October.

It seems that there was 'prosecutorial misconduct' in trying to get former Alaskan law maker Ted Stevens smeared and successfully prosecuted!

I guess the long arm of the Democrats, and their prosecutors did not quite have this one in the bag, not to mention the fact that the prosecutors were held in contempt!

STORY BELOW:

All charges against Sen. Ted Stevens are dropped

Reporting from Washington -- The Justice Department is dropping all charges against former Sen. Ted Stevens, the 85-year-old Alaska Republican convicted of lying on Senate financial disclosure forms to conceal hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts and home renovations from a businessman, Atty. Gen. Eric Holder said today.

The case was criticized by the federal trial judge for prosecutorial missteps. Holder has concluded that the conduct in the former senator's trial warrants not only dropping the charges against Stevens, but also a full review of the Justice Department's handling of the case.

"After careful review, I have concluded that certain information should have been provided to the defense for use at trial," Holder said in a statement issued today.

"In light of this conclusion, and in consideration of the totality of the circumstances of this particular case," the attorney general said, "I have determined that it is in the interest of justice to dismiss the indictment and not proceed with a new trial."

This is a travesty. To me its not a Democrat or Republican thing, its an ethics and principle thing. I say retry the old barstard.

Somehow Jack it helps to make your case when you have some iota of a clue WFT you are talking about. Stevens a Republican was prosecuted by a Republican DOJ, which had an AJ and Deputy AJ in the Public Integrity Unit who were ALL REPUBLICANS. The Republican prosecutors, overseen by the Deputy AJ and AJ in the opinion of the current AJ and his Deputies VIOLATED THE LAW BY FAILING TO TURN OVER EXCULPATORY EVIDENCE TO THE DEFENSE.

Somehow the Ds believe in the rule of law, and the Rs don't. But you feel that is evidence of the corruption of the Ds. You have exposed yourself as a hack of the lowest order!

That was funny, Jack. I'm a Democrat (who didn't vote for Stevens, but could have) and I think the old crook should be left in peace.

Stevens is one of many of the old dinosaurs without whom we are all better off.

Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd are two others...

Double jeapardy rules are there for a reason. Judicial branch is held to a higher standard for a reason. I'm disappointed in any miscarriage of justice, no matter who it happens to be.
