FAUX NEWS is a shorthand notation that allows the reader to understand the writer's positions. It makes it easier for RWs to only read posts they agree with and LW to avoid wasting time on the same posts. In any case it provides the dogmatic a way to avoid contaminating thoughts.

But truthfully it doesn't matter to me. We all know that Fox News is a viable, extremely popular and top rated cable news station. It's winning in the ratings because most thinking Americans go there for their news to achieve the balance which they're not getting on network news or other cable news.

But name calling is for children and if the children here want to use it, I say go ahead. Some posters clearly have no real communication skills and need to resort to name calling to try to support their views.

Simply negating another point of view with a skew on a word doesn't make the truth go away.

Fox News is crying all the way to the bank.
Hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Balance???

You must be taking the p*ss

Fox thinks FOR it's viewers who seem largely unable to think for themselves.

Are you trying to say that CNN, MSNBC, and even BBC don't do the same?

It should only be banned if the phrase "Fox News" is also banned. At least "Faux News" has the advantage of being accurate.

Unfortunately for the people who would use it, "faux" is pronounced "FO", no "x" sound.

If Faux News is banned, there are a whole lot of other terms that need to go with it.

Of course not! It's fun to watch some of the made up names and slogans for news net works

"Faux News: We Deceive, You Believe"
"CNN: Conservative News Network, Clinton News Network, Chlamydia News Network"
"MSNBC: Massive Slapping of New Braindead Conservatives"

Me thinks you misunderstood what the poster was saying about Fox News......"It's winning in the ratings because most thinking Americans go there for their news to achieve the balance which they're not getting on network news or other cable news."

I think the poster may have meant was since the other news networks are slanted to the Left, and Fox News present viewpoints slanted to the Right, people who want a balanced viewpoint can get it, if they also watch some of both--including Fox.

Many posters on CD have said as much: Watch MSNBC (and the others) for a leftist view. Watch Fox for the rightist view. Then take what you will from each and you will have a more balanced view of the whole picture.

People who rely on only one news source and ridicule anything that they don't agree with only add to the problem.
