The same unregulated capitalisitc way of life that permiated the greed that has led us into the *****ter. Obama is doing what he feels best to stop the downfall and reverse the cycle. The way the markets are looking, it may be working.

Yeah he may end the war in Iraq only to move it to Afghanistan.

Yeah.. because AFGhanistan was where we were SUPPOSED To be and where he had the countries support to ENTER! BECAUSE OF 911.. wow.. how soon we forget huh???

WE should have NEVER taken the eye OFF Afghanistan and gotten into Iraq. He is pulling us OUT of where we shouldnt' have been and finishing up the job we STARTED and left horribly undone. ONce that's done.. we'll be gone.. or would you rather we give Afghanistan and the Taliban a pass .. and thereby allowing Bin Laden to roam free? I don't think the families ofthe victims of 911 would like that very much.

Let's not forget the irresponsible ways of the American people living beyond their means.
Yes.. you are right.. BUT.. who were the gatekeepers who gave those people who put that they make x amount of money when they only make S amount of money in the first place. Each individual family that purchased a house wsn't giving out the money, bundling the horrible loans and selling them on Wall Street and around the world. THESE PEOPLE KNEW what they were doing. They sold their country UP RIVER for the quick buck. THEY are supposed to be the financial genuises.. the creme de la creme of the financial world and they acted ..well stupid and with malice. Each individual family is responsible for their own selves.. and what they do affects THEM.. and these people giving out the mortgages and working Wall Street are in essence responsible for the entire GLOBAL ECONOMY!!! and they behaved horribly and were stupid and short sighted.

I am constantly amazed at the perception that it was all Bush that started this downward trend when in fact it started during the Clinton years when the administration thought EVERYONE should be homeowners no matter the cost. Now we are paying for that. Any analyst will tell you that the mortgage problems tipped the scales and started this decline in our country. But I guess it makes everyone feel better to blame Bush.

I blame Bush and the Republican policies that lead us down this path. BUSH and his administration FLAT OUT LIED about Iraq and then went into that war . HE is ultimately responsible, as is the people in his cabinet and administration, for executing that invasion properly. AND he didn't do it properly.. he weakened our front in Afghanistan.. I mean come on.. we stillcan't find a little Arab man hooked up to a dialysis machine!!! because we were too busy in Iraq. That war cost this country tons of money AND lost us much respect around the world.

I blame Corporatism led fiercely by GREED in this country.. and the lack of oversight on Wall Street and the financial sector. Yup.. both parties are to blame.. but the Republicans were in charge the last 8 years.. headed by a Republican President. This happened on their watch. The results of what happens NOW is going to be on the Democrats watch and when it's all said and done, where we end up will speak to which policies are working best. What I know for sure is that the policies of the last 8 years has NOT Worked. Middle income has stagnated while the upper echeleon have taken American jobs overseas and built up their coffers at the middle man's expense. Tax Breaks did NOTHING for middle income Americans.. and only served those at the top. Middle America has been weakend.. and the country can not survive or stay vibrant with a weakened Middle America.

I'm watching everything Obama does.. and I'm waiting for the results of all that he does.. THAT will tell the REAL story of who's policies are working, who's policies failed. But for the first time in a long time I am actually hopeful that this country will move INTO the NEW century and will once again be the country I know that it is (and hasn't been in awhile)

Quote:
I think if we would spend alittle less time playing the blame game in our country and get on with life we might actually make some strides in getting our country back on it's feet. We are all so busy living in the past we can't get with the present. Repubs are blaming the dems, dems are blaming the repubs and it just goes on and on, kinda like the song that never ends. Until we can put the blame game to an end it isn't going to get any better. JMO

Unless and until you identify what it is that caused the problems in the first place. .. you'll never be able to prevent it from happening in the future. There are MANY things to be pointed out that are to blame.. not just one thing.. many.

First.. this country is not run for the people by the people. Our politicians are bought and paid for by the Big Corporations! It's quite sad really. Just look at that payday loan bill that is now going through I believe the house. I believe it was a Senator from Illinois who was opposed to it, now touting it. Gee.. I wonder why? Could it be all the money that the payday industry threw to him through lobbying? It's disgraceful. Our politicians are for sale.. The ONLY thing I can do is watch my local politicians and how they vote.. and give them MY heave ho when they vote in the interest of corporations and NOT in the best interest of the countries citizens.

Guess what.. Obama won. He is our President for atleast the next 4 years. The other party had their turn and obviously did not do a job that a majority of this country liked and they LOST the election as a result. They really have some work to do on their image because if anyone is stuck in the past.. it's the Republican party AND the righties.

Let the man do his job, watch and be hopeful that the policies enacted and the things being done not only affect short term change but LONG term change and improvement. If not.. he'll be fired too..

Well...here I go again. Ok..so let's do this one more time. First, the terrorists that attacked us are no longer in Afgan land..they are in Pakistan, a nuclear power..so you can forget about Bin Laden and the rest of his crew (but of course the drones are perfect for the Democrats..they can bomb and run like they always do). But, they (UBL et al.)are history..powerless...etc. Now on to the real boring repeat of what all of us with half a brain know...intel from everywhere was that yadda yadda yadda weapons of mass yadda yadda yadda..Bill Clinton knew yadda yadda yadda Russia yadda..UN DOPES..you know the drill. When are we going to let poor George go and enjoy his well desrved retirement. Good God FOLKS.

Why do you think those that committed 911 aren't IN Afghanistan anymore.. Could it be we were too busy playing war with Iraq that they were then able to slip away

I won't let Bush off the hook for that.UN Security council voted AGAINST and invasion in Iraq.. and they were obviously right.... so no. Bush doesnt' get to scurry off to his retirement without the rest of us being upset about the entire thing.

What are people proud of...

Giving billions of our dollars to GM, and it is all gone in 1 month. And they are no better off. They could have just declared bankruptcy a month ago and saved us all billions.

Yea if only the Democrats controlled Congress for 2 years and could have ended the Iraq War 2 years ago like they all promised.. oh wait. They did nothing.

LOL.. K.. first..BUSH gave that money to the auto industry back in December..

Last I heard Obama wasn't given GM or any of them a penny unless they REALLY proved they were doing something different.. like getting in NEW MANAGEMENT , taking the company in a DIFFERENT DIRECTION (because obviously the one they were in wasn't working!!) and coming to them with a Plan that proved that they can turn from being bankrupt to profitalbe once again.. so that we're not throwing good money after bad.
