I think deep down the main reason the Iraq War is continuing with no end in sight is all the spending on the war helps our economy in the short term. Many large American Companies love the Iraq War because it helps their bottom line.

I think their PR people know that it is a waste of time but they sell it with slogans and spin so they can continue to get rich off of the fighting and dying. What do you think?

I think there is a special place reserved in hell for those who would send people off to die in pursuit of a fat bottom line.

*sighs*

I'm trying so hard not to call this man an idiot. His statement is a perfect example of what is wrong with America. We are ruled by the Almighty Dollar.

That's starting to get into the "lunatic fringe" conspiracy theory range, but I will entertain the debate. This is going to get into alot of Halliburton/Cheney hate topics of course.
I can't see many companies benifiting from the Iraq War, certainly some do (Halliburton, some defense contractors), but as many seem to argue it is hurting our economy drastically. Most of the largest fortune 500 companies - telecommunications, banking, the service industries - I can't seem them benifiting from any foreign military action. Companies have other ways to encourage spending without declaring a war, hence the armies of lobbiest in Congress in the assorted pork barrel projects that this or that senator puts in place.

The 500 BILLION spent so far on the War goes straight into the US Economy. Who paid for Bush's election?

What part of it's going into the pockets of Iraqi officials? There's already been reports of some building villas in various parts of Europe, think that came from their savings plan under Saddam?

And no, I don't have hard proof but there has been hard proof of the millions of US$ stolen by Vietnamese officials under very similar circumstances. I know where I'd be placing my bet
