Answering your own post I see. Must be pretty lonely being a CONservative eh?
Did you really just say that, Duke? You, the person that replies to himself more than anyone I've ever seen in any forum, in 20 years of using forums, could not have just said that. I must be dyslexic today or something, because that's just not possible...
Fine or shut down all businesses who hire illegals.
Absolutely, that would work, except it is an UNWORKABLE option. I know that sounds contradictory but those EMPLOYERS are taxpayers and many of them are SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS, who, if you listen to Republican lawmakers are the HEART AND SOUL of America. When those business owners get on the phone to the (mostly) Republican representatives those representative JUMP. They don't ask how high, they just JUMP.
If the feds start putting REPUBLICAN business owners in jail, there would be a huge reaction alright, just not the one you predicted.
I'm interested to hear what your solution to the current problem is. I agree that the borders are not tight enough and that should be a priority with this immigration reform package. But with respect to the illegals already here, what would you propose?
We cannot allow them to stay just because they are already here, that feeds more illegal immigration. That is proven by the past amnesties handed out.
My solution..............
No more anchor babies
Fine employers heavily for the use of illegal immigration
Force e-verify
Bill countries of origin for medical care given to their Countrymen.
Illegals should not be in our school system, at 14,000 per kid, we, especially in NJ, simply cannot afford the tax burden.
We could then maybe expand legal immigration although IMHO those numbers are currently too high.

Us conservatives are not lonely. And don't stress the "CON" part.
If this goes through, what message are we sending to these people who are sucking up our resources and jobs? They need to be sent home ASAP...not rewarded. They are criminals just by breathing our air. Granting them "amnesty" is tantamount to giving a child a cookie for misbehaving.
There is the point that the overwhelming majority of these "illegal" immigrants are good, not quite legal, citizens with jobs, businesses, educations contributing to their communities and our country, maybe we should straighten out the "legal" part and just consider them neighbors.

golfgod
There is a huge difference between businesses who operate legally, and those who break the law. "heart and soul", yes, but even businesses have laws to follow. Otherwise half of them should just sell crack, just think of the low unemployment levels if that would take place.
Republicans dont go to jail? Odd.. I didnt realise I had a get out of jail card. Must make it tough to play Monopoly against a Republican.

How in the world do you straighten out the legal part by allowing people to break the law?
