It won't, it's all about the money.

This is the standard in Europe and it actually works quite well. It does create more jobs for part time workers. The problem is in America employers don't want to create more jobs; they want to squeeze more out of fewer employees.

I would favor a four day work week with four 10 hour days. This would immediately reduce commute expenses by 20% and create more part time jobs.

And I really think that the work week should be lowered. We work more hours now then they did in the 1950s. It should be less now as our society grows.

Also if they lowered the work week to 35 hours I think that more companies would consider 4 day work weeks. This would relieve traffic, pollution, and save people money on commuting costs. Plus it would give people more time to travel and spend money.
Who do you want to effect this change?

Then you take take the money and find another means of earning cash that works for you.

You don't try to deny others of having the same opportunity that you had.

What's wrong with the 20 hour work week? It's where we'll be in 100 years anyway. EVERYTHING is being automated these days. It's the elephant in the room that no one wants to address. Humans are becoming more obsolete by the day

There is nothing wrong with it, if you are a business owner who can operate profitably with that little productivity, or if you are a person selling their labor who can eat, shelter, and clothe themselves and their family working that little.

Most business owners and sellers of labor can't, and so they choose to work more, and many work 50-80 hours per week.

What is wrong with people doing so, if they choose?

Obamacare is taking care of this for you.

I'd rather stay at 40 hours and do a 4/10hr. days a week.

Think of the fuel that would be saved.
Why hasn't this demanding government put this idea forth?

Not every company can do this but most can.
