The OP is trying to make a point that a lot of conservatives/right wingers/libertarians/republicans place the so-called free market in an ivory tower and rile against perceived socialism but then not only rely on but demand the products and services provided by socialized institutions.

Let the free market decide...
You get robbed/hijacked off the coast of Somali... don't go over there.
That's called common sense

I agree. Lets get rid of the police while we're at it. Why should my tax money go to protect everybody else? If you don't want to get robbed, move into a gated community with private security like me.

(1) There’s no laws in international waters
(2) If somebody drives to Mexico and gets their car stolen, that person should have insurance instead of saying that “it was too expensive and the government should send the marines to get my car back, again”

Who’s saying that?
That’s that republican BS of saying “If you don’t hate my enemy, that means you love himâ€

I never saw Bush showing any sign of hate towards the communist dictator of China or the King of Saudi Arabia.

EFF'em! Those EFF'n Skinnies are commiting not only piracy, but an act of economic terrorism on the High Seas. Seem the German Navy didn't have a problem wasting a cvouple of them & sinking aone of their Mother Ships. What baffles me is how a handful these little $hit Stains with an RPG or 2 & a coule of AK's can overtake a huge cargo ship? Spash 'em like we did the enemy in WWII when Mechant Marine Liberty ships were armed with Gun Crews trained by the Navy, & Insurance Co.'s be damned. Yes the trade routes need to be protected, What an embarassment, to let this go on as long as it has. We have 3 Naval fForces in the area, & the Skinnies are outgunned, . Does our President want to avoid an international incident, or feul one. BO had better be decisive on this one. Dopo, I'm not feelin' your rage dude.
Happy Easter. I'm goin' home & clean my guns.

73, KI6YFG out.

Somalia is a rogue state its own government can not controlled whats going on.why cant they control it ?because they don't want to.the Sammie's that hijack ships and get a ransome bring money in to the country.so the Somalian gov turns a blind eye and in turn they get a Lil kick back.and the UN for some unknown reason will not let civilian ships carry fire arms.i remember when the tsunami hit and the first country they turned to was the US.then they turn around and asked us to leave after they got what they wanted.its an ungrateful nation.some one some where is going to say the he!! with the UN and mount a big canon on their ship with some M-60's or mini guns to back them up and Waite for some hijackers.that will get their attention.blow some of them out of the water and see the hi-jacking rate go down.i don't like that my tax dollars are spent on trying to control the Sammie's but i have no control over my government ether.if it were my choice, lets just say every Sammie boat that approached a ship would have big holes in it.

Too bad some folks need it spelled out so obviously. Without a doubt in my mind something has to give, and forcing yet another super cop duty on troops already stretched thin... this isn't right.

Cargo ship, blow them out of the water. Their government can come and retrieve the carcasses if it means that much to them (which obviously it doesn't).

AS I understand the pirates have been getting rich and doing a good job promoting a free market economy in Somail by spending their riches.

The correct free market anarcho-capitalist answer to the somali pirate saga which occurs on international waters outside of any one countries jurisdiction, is to plan for potential attacks by arming your sailors to the teeth with weaponry of equal caliber.
While it is wrong to take hostages and steal property, the pirate saga has often been a one-sided story of mercenaries and bounty. This however is a simplistic understanding of what is really going on off the coast of Somalia.
A curious person might wonder why are so many Somali fisherman in little fishing vessels are acting so aggressively towards foreign ships?
The answer is because many European and Asian nations have been violating Somalias' 200 mile territorial claim to coastal waters, and overfishing the region of its once plentiful source of sardines and herring, a main source of food for coastal Somalia.
See SURVEY RESULTS

The origins of this voluntary coast guard, read pirates, was an attempt to scare off small and large ships which would also routinely dump illegal and toxic waste in this lawless no man's land. The threats at first were the simple ramming of vessels and destruction of netting. The pirates became more aggressive in protecting their livelihoods when foreign ships started using more elaborate fishing and dumping methods and protecting themselves with weaponry that often outgunned the Somalis. The last several decades have seen the Somalis acquiring arms through the Eritreans, Ethiopians, and several Islamic agencies out of Sudan.
They have now gained quite a skill at boarding hulls and seizing cargo. One may now realize why the Somali pirates are so interested in capturing boats that contain rumours of armor and weapons cargo. All of which is sold on the black market to countries around them like Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda.
Johann Hari recently had an excellent article in the Huffington Post on this ignored by MSM story.
