No, Obama is a socialist because he was a member of a Chicago socialist organization not too long ago. This link has a report that shows as recently as 1996 Barack Obama was listed as a member of a Chicago socialist organization.

Obama is a socialist because he gave 95% of the population a tax break and raised the top income tax braket from 36% to 39%. Man, do these wingnuts know anything? Did you know that Eisenhower, a Republican, came into office having the top tax bracket at 90% and then raised it up to 92.5%? Did you know that your man-god Reagan had a top tax bracket of 50% from 1980-1986 and then lowered it to 39.6% in 1986? Gee, if you think Obama's 39% top tax bracket is "soaking the rich" then you must be foaming at the mouth over Reagan's even higher tax rates, huh?

Oh, you mean you aren't and you have no idea what the hell you are talking about? What a surprise.

I wouldn't worry about any "action" in Congress (Senate or House) from anybody. They need a tour guide to find the restrooms. On the way there they'll discuss pooping, condemn pooping, hold hearings and posture on pooping, lie about pooping, hide their previous pooping connections, do press conferences on pooping and then when they eventually get around to doing it, they'll depend on their "leaders" to tell them how to poop and then they'll miss the bowl completely.

I thought conservatives held that charity should come from the heart? Why should I be subsidizing charity from a wealthy person? I would think that conservatives would call for abolishing all deductions for charitable giving.

I don't know about that, I've never got that impression. They feel it should be up to them to decide who, if, when and how much they want to give, rather than the government using the tax dollars they paid to do that for them. The deduction you get to take is so small to anyone that's wealthy, it really makes it an insignificant factor for them when donating. Although reducing it is not going to make anyone that's not wealthy, stop donating to charity either, it's just that more noticable to them when they do their taxes.

Nice ... that is a golden oldie! Goes back to Carter era ... maybe earlier?

Wording was slightly different in the version I remember, which went something like this ...

"The election is over,
The winner is known,
All the people's ballots were shown.

So let's get together,
and show by our deeds,
and help our new leader
with all of his needs ...

Let's get together
