Recognize the fact that is impractical, point-less and will be completely disruptive of many a stable hard working family.
Seems to me that the anti-amnesty crowd like to close gates after the cows get out of the pasture.
Grant citizenship, but make securing the border a higher priority against future illegal immigration.
And along with what avocado recommends, I'll go it one further and suggest that every existing American taxpayer receive one "get out of jail free card" good for a pass on any crime of their choosing
Didn't Obama say "were gonna spread the amnesty around"?
Regardless of what emotional reactionaries think, say, or do, millions more immigrants will be coming to America over the next several decades. The only option is whether that will happen in a normalized, regulated way, or whether it will continue to happen in the way it does now. The current situation does not work well for anyone. Comprehensive immigration reform would leave everyone better off. The issues along the way should not be decided in favor of those who can simply yell the loudest...
Every time I hear the term comprehensive immigration reform my blood boils. I know what those who push it mean. They mean amnesty for those illegals who are here and that will work to destroy our nation.
The economy has chased lots of them out and back home and we need to give them a hand to help more of them get out of here.
In 2006 the House, not controlled by Nasty Nancy yet, voted against every attempt to get comprehensive amnesty. The Senate voted for it in a large margin but that was caused from Dirty Harry hoping that the House would do the right thing. That bill was offered by John McCain and Ted Kennedy and supported by George Bush and all but 33 Senators. It is true that this time the House will probably vote as Nasty Nancy wants and we will get amnesty along with all that comprehensive reform other than border control.
What will we do with all the fences and walls that have been built since that aborted attempt in 2006? Do we tear them down or just post sharpshooters on the ends of them and do the people attempting to come in illegally in? I say that we can slow them down if we gun down a few before they get to this side of the border.
The only option is whether that will happen in a normalized, regulated way, or whether it will continue to happen in the way it does now.
The only comprehensive reform that will work is to close the border by using our military. Then ICE can work on rounding up those 12 million and providing then safe transportation back to Mexico City. These illegals broke the law and should be treated as the criminals that they are.
"As a senator, Obama backed immigration reform proposed by George Bush that sought tougher border controls and a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. Republicans, however, refused to back Bush and killed the plan in 2007."

I've never heard of "buzzle.com" but it doesn't sound like a creditable source and instead sounds like a rumor mill. I will wait to hear from a creditable source.

This isn't meant to be anti-Hispanic or anything but in the future you are going to see a walled-off, English speaking America and a barrio-like Spanish speaking America. This is already the case in SoCal, SoFlo, and many parts of the Southwest.
