The Columbus Police Training Academy will welcome back 26 recruits to begin a refresher course Thursday after their jobs were saved by a grant from the federal economic-stimulus package.

Jackson Police Chief Matt Heins said Monday in a phone interview that federal stimulus grants announced last week will help him save four positions in his department.
