Here's how desperate Republicans are to find a winning issue: conservatives from Newt Gingrich to Glenn Beck to the rest of Fox News all bet against the Obama administration's ability to rescue Richard Phillips, the American ship captain who was taken hostage by Somali pirates last Wednesday.
They must have thought that a tragic ending to the crisis would have been a political opportunity, so they pre-positioned themselves to take full advantage. Except their plan went up in smoke when Navy SEALs -- acting on orders from President Obama -- rescued the captain, killing three pirates in the process.
Notice that Obama made some somber remarks after, but he didn't do it the way Bush would have.
Based on past performances by the Shrub, the Captain would have been whisked to Washington for a photo op with the president, and there would have been speechifying about how great the Navy and "my administration" are, and he would have tried sucking all the political capital out of this situation possible.
The Republicans wanted the captain killed so that they could blame the president. That's the kind of person we are dealing with not real Americans [sub human in-fact]. Despicable people!
Too many poorly-trained wingnuts out there with easy access to guns. "A well-regulated militia" is what we need, not a bunch of unhinged and unregulated militias.
Pls tell me this. Why did Barry keep his mouth sealed during the "crisis", then when it turned out positively his press machine took all the credit? Answer: So they could distance if it turned out badly and take credit if it turned out well.
Poor old Bambi has opened up a can of worms with taking credit. Seems those poor pirates were just "chidren" who didn't even have any bullets and were starving and just wanted to hand over the Capt and go home to their mammy's in Somalia! Oh the humanity! And Bush would have been frothing at the mouth "Dead Or Alive" "Bring It On" before a resolution had been reached. Walk quietly and carry a big stick.
