I guess the conmen and conwomen of Congress think that until 100 percent of our income is taxes to be given to them, we don't pay too much?

Well if you think about it we're now paying layers of tax.

Your salary is taxed. Now you use your salary to buy stuff and that is taxed.
Layers of tax whittle your disposable money away to where you don't have enough so you work to earn more. The more you make the more they tax the less you have.

It's a lose-lose situation for us. It might be better to think the opposite...try to earn as least as possible to live so that you have less to pay in taxes. We are debt slaves to the government.

The US tax system is like a soufflé, layer upon layer of redundant taxes. Just think about how many ways your income is taxed starting from income taxes, state taxes, city and local taxes, sales taxes, usage fees and taxes, real estate taxes, school taxes, taxes upon taxes ad infinitum! It is truly mind boggling how much and how many taxes income earners actually pay. The OP is right, earn only what you need to live on because the Socialists will tax it all and confiscate as much of your hard earned income as humanly possible.

Should this Internet Sales Tax pass Congress, and it will with the left-wing liberals (Democrats) running Congress, IMO, this will put a serious hurt on Internet commerce, especially for the small to medium sized e-tailer sites. There is the direct effect of the tax on sales, including shipping and handling , but also the indirect cost of acquiring the necessary software to collect, record and maintain taxing records and revenue. I just don't get it how the a-holes that run the government always manage to pluck and cook a Golden Goose with their greed and "Tax anything that's taxable, including our corpses" philosophy of draining the pig dry.

This simply can't be true Obama said that 95% of the people would get a tax cut, this tax would affect everyone.

And before some nut says he was only talking about income tax, read the link.

Shorebaby..from reading so many posts here, many people think "income taxes" when they hear tax cut so as long as income taxes are not affected then Obama is keeping his promise..right ?

That is interesting logic, since many people believe something that is wrong it then becomes right?

So if many people believe 1+1=3 then 1+1 must equals 3.

I do have to add that if in our State the propery taxes will go way down, I would support a higher sales tax so every one will tribute and we as home owners don't have to pay for other peoples kids to go to school, which is also paid from the property taxes. So if you have kids in private school, you pay double if you own a home...

I think it is ridiculous and will just increase paper work and bureaucracy. Until the IRS can get their act together, we should freeze all taxes.
In all fairness to the IRS, they don't write the tax laws, they simply enforce them within their limits. You can blame congress for writing the dysfunctional tax laws.

However, it is also up to the IRS to abide by the Constitution!!! If they enforce an unConstitutional law, then they are to be held accountable also. (I asked my Uncle about this, and since he is an IRS agent of almost 30 years, I'd say he knows more than me about this!!!) And yes, we should hold Congress accountable with a vote right out of office!
