My daughter can't get even a subsidized student loan now because I sent myself through college and I am able to earn a decent middle class income.
I don't see what that has to do with racism. It's the same for black kids whose parents make too much. I don't even recall being asked about race when filling out the FAFSA.

Actually you're right, it has to do w/how much your parents make.
I have never experienced discrimination & live in a majority Latino city w/ huge Asian presence. The only discrimination is economical & those who have struggled may resent those living more comfortably. That is why affordable housing is so important & that nobody sleep on the street. People who are poor get discriminated big time by the police.
Racism is an unfortunate phenomena of fear & self-doubt. My work has meant visiting young gang members at night in projects. I never encountered anything but courtesy. I took precautions [locking pc in trunk] because crime is more common in those neighborhoods.
For white people to cry "racism" generally means they also struggle financially & live in high crime areas.
