NYT: Harsh techniques worked, intel chief says - White House- msnbc.com

President Obama’s national intelligence director told colleagues in a private memo last week that the harsh interrogation techniques banned by the White House did produce significant information that helped the nation in its struggle with terrorists. “High value information came from interrogations in which those methods were used and provided a deeper understanding of the al Qa’ida organization that was attacking this country,” Adm. Dennis C. Blair, the intelligence director, wrote in a memo to his staff last Thursday.

Translation = Dead Americans!!!

"The information gained from these techniques was valuable in some instances, but there is no way of knowing whether the same information could have been obtained through other means,” Admiral Blair said in a written statement issued last night. “The bottom line is these techniques have hurt our image around the world, the damage they have done to our interests far outweighed whatever benefit they gave us and they are not essential to our national security."

“We’ve had an at least two-year policy disagreement with the vice president of the United States,” Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary. “That policy disagreement is whether or not you can uphold the values in which this country was founded at the same time that you protect the citizens that live in that country.”
***
[Obama said,] “What makes the United States special, and what makes you special, is precisely the fact that we are willing to uphold our values and our ideals even when it’s hard, not just when it’s easy.”

delusianne...you can spin it all you want for Obama...The simple reality is that Obama and his people cannot deal with the previous administration's success in stopping terror in America...What it really boils down to, is that Obama is trying to chum it up with people who despise us. He actually believes that this country was immoral and unjust before he was elected.

Again---translation = Dead Americans

Actually it was Bill Clinton's fault whose weak foreign policy "can't we all get along" that eventually led to 9/11---same as Obama's policy now...

No,unfortunately you are doing the spinning!!!

First, people like you will NOT admit that waterboarding was torture, which you know by the very definition of torture would include waterboarding.
You brush aside common fact and truth when you think it may somehow demean this country to the world stage.

Only a fool would believe that this country has not partaken in immoral and unjust actions during times in it's history, not only against it's own citizens but in the internal affairs of other sovereign nations.

Now, if my country's internal affairs had been manipulated or in some other way meddled with and I knew this, who would be the bigger fool, you trying to pretend those things never happened while dealing with me or me for pretending that you never did those things!!
