I suppose violent crime is more related to the culture in a society rather than its gun control laws. The U.S does have one of the highest violent crime rates in the western world - far more than Canada, Japan and Europe. I think a far more proactive way of dealing with gun crime is to change the culture.

But how is violent crime in the U.S going to be addressed? Are Americans biologically more predisposed to engage in this behaviour? No! Otherwise, as I indicated the levels of violent crime in the U.S are leaps and bounds higher than countries of like status. Even if you adjust for pop levels - so how do you tackle this problem. Or, is it not considered a problem. or is the solution just to say, if you have no guns you are a slave.

This is something that has been explained as nauseum on the religion forums, so I won't go into detail here, but there was right and wrong long before organized religion.
