All speculation at this point. Last year I read on here about three different justices retiring. None did.

The GOP is hopeful that trump getting to nominate another justice will rally the base. Which it could.

I thought that Republicans are going to maintain the presidency as well as both houses of Congress forever. So the courts will eventually have nothing but conservative justices.

A new summer Supreme Court justice could motivate the base along with GDP growth figures and Kim potential denuclearization deal.

The Dems messed up not getting Ginsberg to step down in 2014. Not sure she can outlast Trump and if republicans get that seat it would be 6-3. She turns 85 this month!

This is the biggest reason most Trump supporters support him so devoutly. They want to see SCOTUS justices that will overturn Roe v Wade and reverse marriage equality. They see Trump as their last shot at establishing a Baptist theocracy in the US.
