Conservatism needs to define itself before it can make a comeback. I consider myself right-wing on most (but not all) issues. We like to make fun of the Left's "Big Tent", but in truth, there needs to be a convo on what exactly is a "Republican":

-Is he anti-interventionism? (Ron Paul) or pro-Nation Building? (Bush)

-Is he for government butting out of our lives? (Goldwater) or imposing a moral consecious? (Dobson/Robertson)

-Does he beileve America was built on freedom for all? (McCain), or does he feel America is a Whites-only place (LaRoche)

-Does he feel total capitalist steering is good? (Forbes, Murdoch) or does he feel threatened by the rise of others? (Lou Dobbs)

A conservative is many things, which need to be sorted out before any comeback can take place. Maybe the Republican party is too big to truly respond to the nuances of every right-wing view?

You are not a Conservative and are rather a tool. Most of your posts are to discredit Limbaugh. Get over yourself.

Rush has been making over $30 million / year since 2001.
Not surprising he thought that period was prosperous.

Like the type of "free market" Capitalism that caused the current mortgage crisis? Rush was praising Wells Fargo for reporting record profits last month, he just "forgot" to mention the fact that they received TARP money and also the fact that many of these financial institutions still do things that are not only unethical but borderline illegal.

Just a correction, it was not the "free market" capitalism that created this current mortgage crisis, it was government intervention that mandated relaxing lending standards. It was ACORN and Democratic bullying of lending institutions. Once these standards were relaxed, everyone jumped on board and boom, housing bubble.

Is it Well Fargo's fault that the government in it's infinite wisdom just handed out TARP money to anyone who stuck their hand out?

Time to post this again:

True Conservatives

True Conservatives seek a limited government that seeks to protect and lead and not to provide. We don't want authoritative figures as we don't want to be ruled. We think that large government is oppressive and seeks to make people SLAVES to the state, not individuals, and were certainly don't believe in one state. We believe that big government will inevitably look out for its own interests rather than the interests of its citizens if left unchecked. We don’t believe that the leaders of the government should think for the people, however they should lead and represent the people.

We seek responsible fiscal policy. We seek opportunity in terms of business.

We seek to be able to practice ANY religion that we so choose without government and left wing oppression of said religion. This country was founded due to religious oppression and it should be a mainstay of our Constitution.

We are all for freedom of speech thought but just because you disagree with what you say doesn't give you the right to try and stifle what we have to say. We also believe that there are consequences to freedom of speech.

We believe in personal responsibility and individualism, but also altruism, simply because teaching that makes us and everyone better. We believe in charity before government handouts, and we believe in helping our fellow man.

We don't think it takes a village to raise a child, we think it take some responsible parents who will take the time to devote to their children. We believe in education and we believe proper education starts in the home. We believe that people are essentially good.

We seek opportunity but at the same time, the repression of people by monopolization or unfair practices will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted. Opportunity provides no excuses. Opportunity provides options for people to become better in all facets of life.

A simple study of history shows that socialism and communism are failed ideologies. One has to look at this country’s own past to see the failure of the Pilgrim’s collective society (socialist) and subsequent transfer to a society where one had to work hard in order to live.

Yes, I am an idealist - God knows that the government and career politicians are only out for themselves and the left only seeks to empower these more and in the process destroy liberties and any work ethic or opportunity. But the best thing is that my version of conservatism would help people in the best way possible.

Just like the liberals who have handed billions of our Tax dollars to Corporations that failed and caused economic upheaval.

It is so eerie how similar the 2 parties have become. But the OP asked about the conservative agenda not the neocon Republican Party agenda. For a truly conservative agenda just read about libertarianism.
