If you want help in Lowe's, ask a man.
If you want an errand run, ask a woman.
If you want something measured, ask a man.
If you want a bill paid on time, ask a woman.
If you want someone to understand and appreciate a new business idea, ask a man.
If you want someone to understand a relationship, ask a woman.
If you want to complain to a business, complain to a man. He won't take it personally.
If you want to make sure a message gets delivered, ask a woman.
If you want something fixed on time, ask a woman.
If you want something fixed right, ask a man.

Not really. My friend's gay son lives with a black man. I've heard it all before. And you don't complement each other. Your bodies look the same.

Times are changing in the US at least.

College gender gap widens: 57% are women

"In May, the Minnesota Office of Higher Education posted the inevitable culmination of a trend: Last year for the first time, women earned more than half the degrees granted statewide in every category, be it associate, bachelor, master, doctoral or professional."

I was in Lowe's last week and I experienced a bit of sexism that irked me to no end. I really liked that sale's guy, too. So, that bummed me out a bit. He asked if I needed something, and of course I did; directions. So, he brought me to the sheet rock screws and we started discussing my project. I'm redoing my kitchen (myself). I didn't want the 2 1/2" screws because I'm replacing the wall where there's a DIY addition. Who ever did it, didn't use standard wall studs. I wanted 2". Either way, my husband comes along and the sale's guy says it would be better if he could speak with my dh. bla bla. That offended me.

Every person I've had to the house about this or that (electricians, plumbers, whoever) do the exact same thing. Once they're met with my dh's blank stare, the conversation comes back to me.

Men belong fixing cars as women belong in the kitchen.

I kid, I kid.

But women are more prone to fit into stereotypes then men do when it comes to gender.

We are all thrown by stereotypes, though the "Housewife" stereotype is actually going away.

I see women as actually being more independent nowadays as a whole then being a housewife. (Perhaps in the lower wealth communities)

Men and Women should be seen as equal: Both are beautiful in their own way.

Yup, exactly. Men are generally "better" at fighting (and dying) in wars, paying more alimony, getting less child custody, living shorter lives, and having higher rates of cancer and heart disease. Although women are slowly becoming our "equals" in many of these areas too...
