I've dated women with them. Not a big deal. The real thing is always better but if they boost her self esteem and she's happy with them, then why not? There are different types of implants as well. Under or over the breast muscle, the ones under the muscle look more natural once they've had a chance to stretch the skin and settle/drop.
Oh sure, but I would just hesitate in saying that a woman has mental problems if she wants her breasts enlarged after age 30, and I believe that's what you said.
Yes, that's what I said. And I think it was an insensitive thing to say. What I meant to say is that it's too bad that breasts are fetishized to such an extent in this culture that women are willing to put their lives at risk for elective major surgery in order to feel better about their bodies. In cultures where breast size is a non-issue, breast enlargement is a non-issue, because that message doesn't figure into a woman's sense of her sexual attractiveness.
Depends on what your expectations are. If the women are happy with them, and they attract guys who like them, I don't see a problem.
Oh I agree with you, beauty is only in the eye of the beholder. Whats attractive to one isn't so for another. I guess I just keep imagining these women who are over cooked from a tanning beds and have cosmetic surgerys to try to look like they are thirty at 45......cougers.
I guess when you title a forum "Politics and other Controversies" it's open ended enough to invite questions like this.
I'll tell you what I think because you asked. I think it's a damn shame what women like me went through and put up with to move us forward into an environment where women could feel proud of their education and accomplishments as human beings rather than inanimate objects to be oggled by workmen on the street or by a bunch executives such as we see depicted on "Mad Men" only to arrive at this point where women feel the necessity to be puffed up, lifted, sculpted, or vacuumed over every inch of skin on their bodies.
It's pretty sad when I think of what our goal was to see we have not only come full circle, but have actually taken several steps backward.
All that said, since breast implants and other so called "improvements" have now become the order of the day, there is no reason in the world that anyone should be eliminated from anything for having breast implants. I think it's a pretty level playing field.
Usually people who get so bothered by them are the ones with serious issues. Why should it matter to you who has them and who doesn't?
Very good observation. I think a lot of people (both men and women) are very quick to judge others. It often stems from a lack of confidence or at least a discomfort with their own bodies.
There are people who say they're very liberal, but they're not so liberal when it comes to body issues and anything that deals with sexuality.

In general, body issues are much more political--and thus a more charged subject--for women than for men.
It's a 51% (real) versus 49% (implants) thing for me. I've had both in my face and for the life of me I can't recall a single time that I was opposed to either.
