Indeed!! If it werent for their own insistence on bringing their sex life into politics, they would be just "Republicans."
Don't be a jerk. Saying that I'm gay is not "bringing my sex life into politics". Sexual orientation is a core part of who we are and influences much of what we experience in life. To say otherwise is to indicate a big discomfort with sexuality, or at least with homosexuality.
The Log Cabin Republicans is a very staid political organization. It sounds like you're trying to equate them with a sexual fetish group.
As a heterosexual, I don't go around having "straight pride" marches or belonging to a "straight" culture.
Of course you don't have to think of yourself as belonging to a straight culture. You're in the majority! The world is set up for heterosexuality. You don't even have to think about it.
And just because you don't think about your sexuality as being an important part of who you are, why do you think that your way should be the standard that everyone else should follow?
Well I would agree compared to the rabid in you're face agenda of those on the left , but they do have a group (log cabin republicans) that seperates themselves from other republicans according to their sex life!
No, it's according to their sexual orientation. There are black Republican groups too. Do you criticize them for separating themselves by their skin color? Or is it just sexual orientation that makes you uncomfortable?
I don't see how being gay forbids a person from being a republican. How does a person's choice in sexual partners decide their view on whether or not the USA should become a high tax, socialist leaning, welfare state?
It doesn't forbid a person from being a Republican. I never said it did.
I tried to explain it to someone once...like if you prefer strawberry ice cream over chocolate, what the heck does that have to do with your views on foreign policy, welfare, taxes...? It's the same thing.
Maybe they feel like they have other needs they want to address, stan, just like the black Republican groups or the Latino Republican groups.
Why do you think that your way of looking at your sexual orientation should be the standard that all other gay people should follow? Try to have some respect for the fact that not everyone thinks as you do.
I agree. And isn't Condi Rice gay? It didn't seem to keep her from becoming Republican. And, at the same time, I don't think her love life ever influenced her work in the Bush administration.
Even the association of gay and republican is sad. One has NOTHING to do with the other.
