It looks like the House has reached a deal on the cash for clunkers program... if you buy a new car, you can get a voucher for up to $4,500 depending on the fuel mileage of the car... this will be a great boost for the auto industry and consumer spending.

I knew I was saving my barely running Jeep for something ($2,500) for a new car that we wouldn't have bought without it.

i wonder - are they giving more money if you buy a US-branded car? how old does a car have to be to be considered a clunker, anyway?

Apparently they've been doing this program in Europe, I forget what specific countries, but it's been a success.
