We get our natural rights from the highest power (God) and our civil rights from the Constitution.

It is a little scary that anyone said government!!

No, it doesn't. A person has a right to trade his labor for money, then use that money to buy things. For example, someone can trade a 1,000 hours of their labor for $10,000 and then buy a car.

So, not only do people own themselves, but they own the fruits of their labor (i.e. car). Now, I have no idea why you disagree. Do you think that you have a right to someone's car, house, computer, chair, ect?

The important thing to remember is that governments do not create rights. Whether you believe rights are absolute or not, they exist independent of government. I place a high value on non-aggressive self-determination of the individual. Is non-aggressive self-determination of the individual a right? I think so, even if my imperfect society doesn't recognize it as a right. If it's a right, does it stem from me or something greater/broader? I'd like to believe the latter; though concisely articulating why is beyond my ability.

This just shows how much you twist my statements.

People should own their labor. The fact is, with the way capitalism is now, they don't.

Wrong. For example you aren't born with the right to vote, you are born with the right to life however. Not everything is a natural right.

oh man, you just lost so much credibility.

attacking someone for their age and not their ideas is as powerful as attacking someone for their grammar and not the content of their post/ideas.

it is definitley ture that age does not impart wisdom.

if that were the case you would be wise enough to consider all perspectives and opinions.

Ok, this is true. What I should have said was there are two types of rights: those that governments create and those that exist independent of government. Obviously I was referring to the latter.

I own my labor, I exchange it with my employer for money. How about you?
