$13,000,000 dollars in vouchers to private schools is $13,000,000 less for even DC's charter school program. The math is pretty simple.
Charter schools simply prove that normal public schools are a failure, or they wouldnt exist, and the voucher programs save much more than they cost, they always do..
On the contrary its just one of the solutions to the problem, which has proven to work..
Short-term... can we give vouchers to all poor people? what happens when the good schools get overcrowded? how do we pay for it -- take away funds from public education? It's a band-aid not a solution.
More proof that SOME blacks only want the government to solve their problems.
A lot of times it isn't the quality of the school, it's the involvement of the parents.
Sure the school may suck but why can't that parent find tutoring help for their child or take their child to the local library and try to find books that can help him or her?
Obama does not owe the black community anything.
Some in the black community need to take ownership over their problems and stop relying on the government to change things.
Can the parents not work out a solution with the schools involved with the voucher program? A payment plan? Volunteering in exchange for a tuition discount?
I don't get my opinions from videos... I've been reading about this topic since '98.
So, you admit to not watching the video, which interviews people who will be directly hurt by Obama's policies; young poor black kids and their parents. All of whom admitted to voting for him, btw. Unions before poor black kids.

Anyone with common sense knows that when schools get overcrowded they build more, or they simply take over the vacant schools being created because people are moving from districts with poor public schools..
How do we pay for vouchers? Yes, you take money away from public education, thats pretty much how it works, less students = less money needed..
