Default The Civil Rights Act of 1964

When the Civil Rights Act was signed into law in 1964 it profoundly changed
the legal system as we knew it up to that time. It carried forth much of the language in the U.S. constitution and declaration of independence that we Americans all cherish. The law was amended to include women in that act and therefore many advances in the area of abortion rights have been passed. The dramatic changes made by Blacks today can be attributed to that bill. Gays weren't a distinct and organized minority at that time and many were afraid to assert their civil rights. It should be remembered that Gays were behind the civil rights movement in the South and marched with Martin Luther King Jr. While none of these facts seem to register among right wing evangelicals it is history and Gays will not go away. The history of this great nation is not up to interpretation. Without those few words that our forefathers so eloquently wrote "Liberty And Justice For All" Gay rights will prevail. I would invite all Gay Americans to visit the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC and read the words of one of mankinds futurists. Also, more
straight Americans should follow suit. Gay marriage will be the "law of the land" one day in every state I predict. The tide is strong.

Why? Because the people don't approve of gay marriage.

You guys lost Prop in ultra-Liberal California of all places! The majority of Americans hate gay marriage. Face it, you guys lose time after time.
The people voted in their representatives and their representatives voted for marriage equality.

Many americans are for civil unions, I will give you that but let's not pretend americans don't want ANY legal protections for same-sex couples.

He'll ignore you in the same way that he ignores me and everybody else who counters his silliness.

Other nations and sub-cultures may be free to define marriage any absurd way they so choose; but the tradtional institution of marriage in the sense of a man and a woman joining in a union is the only proven method that is effective and healthy.
Since when did this nation establish a religion? I thought that it was in the Constitution that the state could never declare an official religion.

Remember, those of us who aren't primitive pilgrims realize that religion has no place in politics. Since your only argument against Gay marriage is based in your ancient superstitions and primitive belief in a vengeful diety, you really have nothing to bring to this argument.

and what yikesamillion forgets or never knew is that throughout most of the Biblical time..(BC) marriage was definately not limited to 1man and 1 woman....it was often polygamous and often the exchange of goats had something to do with it.....and fornication with your wife's hand maiden had something to do with it and in a pinch two girls got their father drunk and had their way with him....and as long as they never looked down...that was ok with God. Also Adam and Eve never were married but there were "giants" in the hills and some of their off spring were married to the "giants" (?inter-species or may homo-sapiens and Neaderthals???)

Marriage between two committed and loving men or women is tame compared to the wide open definitions of Biblical marriage.

Again, back to the Constitution --

It says freedom of religion, not freedom from. There is a large difference between of and from.

There is no official religion, but I have previously written that more than three-quarters of Americans believe in God and consider themselves Christians. Three-quarters of the population is a substantial majority, so that makes the United States a Christian nation.

Christians adhere to the Biblical scriptures, and it clearly states in the Bible that homosexuality, termed as effeminate in the Holy Book, is a sin against God.

No further arguments. If you have a problem with it take it up with Christ the Savior.
