As I often scan the part of this forum on city and state questions, I often run into questions like "is this place gay friendly" or is that place "hostile to gays".
This is really depressing to think that in 2008 in the United States of America that this question should even have to be posed. I would hope that we as a country have moved beyond the "Anita Bryant" age and into the modern age of tolerance and acceptace of homosexuality.
No, I do not think homosexuality is "normal" for a person and I am not attempting to argue that here. Being left handed is not "normal" for a person either but I don't see left handed people asking "is the place left handed friendly" in the forums. The fact is that homosexuality is normal to the homosexual and nobody is going to change that basic fact of life. The religious nutcases and hate mongerers can say what they want but gays are not going anywhere anytime soon.
It is time for the rest of us to grow up and realize this and allow the gays to have the same rights and dignity afforded to other Americans. Everyplace should be "gay friendly"!

Yeah, no hate mongering there
You do understand that just like you think EVERYPLACE should be "gay friendly" people are entitled to their own opinion and their own rights to decide if THEIR OWN place should be "gay friendly"..
Ooh no, you dont realise that at all, thats just hateful...
Yes, it should. . . and straight friendly, and black, mexican, white, (name your nationality) friendly, friendly of those with differening cultural and religious views, etc. etc. To be "friendly" does not mean to have no differences, and I hate the word "tolerant". . . we should be accepting of differences, and open minded towards them, while also being true to ourselves. That, I think, would create the "most perfect" America imaginable!
there is a huge difference between people who do not care for the gay lifestyle but believe everyone has a right to their own life and the people who openly hate or ridicule homosexuals. kevk has the right idea people should live and let live. as does cap 1717 why should we care if someone of a different race, or religion or sexual preference sits next to us or wants to vacation in the same place.
i would like to be received for who i am not what i do in the bedroom.
my sexual interests are not my identity. if it were not so, my brains would not be on my shoulders.
tons of places are not gay friendly. go see the movie boys don't cry with hillary swank a true story of a gay kid that was beaten to death. or the true story of harvey milk which won the academy award for sean penn as best actor...the movie milk the first ten minutes shows real news footage of unfriendly gay areas of our country
