Arlen Specter's reelection in 2010 may have just gotten easier, at least as far as the Republican competition is concerned. Governor Tom Ridge announced today, Thursday, that he has no interest in running.

Lead Toomey into the ring.

As I understand it, Ridge has a lucrative consultant business that pays him substantially more than he'd make as a Senator. Additionally, Ridge left the political arena at the top of his game as a former mayor, governor, and Cabinet secretary, so speculation has it that he has nothing else to prove. It doesn't surprise me I don't suppose, but I was hoping that he'd make a run for it.
Well old gringo, I think the base wouldn't have supported Ridge, and the Toomey faction and its supporters would have slammed him for his pro choice stance.
Hey I live right need the PA border, I will be campaigning for Pat Toomey, can't wait to retire Arlen Specter.
Remember Pat Toomey won consistently in a D+8 district, that is more Democrat-leaning than the whole state. Toomey is great news for Pennsylvania, and he's Pro-Life!
Will be interesting if a legit Democrat challenges him... a guy like Ridge is needed in the Republican party.
