Pelosi was completely out of line and should be held accountable. The Wall Street Journal wrote a very succint article about how exactly she has seriously overstepped her bounds and is thus in violation of Logan's law and should thus be prosecuted and or dealt with accordingly.

I know in the article only Pelosi was named, but wouldn't all of the little group be just as guilty of violating the Logan Act? It will be interesting to watch and see what the fallout of this will be..
I am a woman and would certainly like to see more women in key positions--but not this one. Pelosi is lacking in diplomacy, wisdom and stupid beyond belief. What is her purpose in going there anyway? Am sure they were all laughing at her in her multi colored scarf! Ugh...she needs to just stay in the beauty shop. She's no Thatcher or Meir. An embarrassment to us all.

No, the Logan Law does not apply to Nancy Pelosi's trip. She's the third ranking American in government. She is the Legislative Branch.
Here's what I copied from your link:
"The Logan Act makes it a felony and provides for a prison sentence of up to three years for any American, "without authority of the United States," to communicate with a foreign government in an effort to influence that government's behavior on any "disputes or controversies with the United States."
Hate to break it to ya, but she's as much a part of the government, or the "United States" as President Bush is. She has every right to go wherever she pleases. You also miss the point that she didn't advocate any position that opposes current U.S. foreign policy.
Why do you think America is the most hated, feared and despised country in the world?
Because we are a great nation and people admire our FREEDOM. Our citizens should be proud to have all that America offers and land of beauty that AMERICA is known for.
Not defending your country is NOT AMERICAN!! Why do you think we should just be so trusting to other countries and do you think they haven't been apart of the lies and deception?

Well said Wildberries. There has always been and will always be resentment agains the U.S. That is just the way it is, irregardless of all the great things we done. Of course we have made mistakes but I think our record speaks for itself.
Add to that jealousy and greed! The have nots want what we have, and haven't a clue how to get it in their countries. Witness, Mexico...extremely corrupt government, but could be a very rich and prosperous country. So can't really blame their vast numbers of poor for wanting to risk life and limb to come get some of what is here.
Pelosi herself is not the actual problem, it's the people in her district that keep electing her that are the root cause. Pelosi is just being the critter that she is, and as is true of all elected officials it the people who 'enable' her that are the problem.

Thanks spunky and I just feel that more and more people are starting to blame us for the worlds problems. Sure we screw up but, I'm sure you have to know corruption to face even greater corruption.
I have a feeling the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Iran,Syria and Russia had a whole lot more to do with this war starting then we know. If nothing else they set the bait and President Bush took the bite!!

She was perfectly within her rights.

The Supreme Court has spoken clearly on this aspect of the separation of powers. In Marbury v. Madison, Chief Justice John Marshall used the president's authority over the Department of State as an illustration of those "important political powers" that, "being entrusted to the executive, the decision of the executive is conclusive." And in the landmark 1936 Curtiss-Wright case, the Supreme Court reaffirmed: "Into the field of negotiation the Senate cannot intrude, and Congress itself is powerless to invade it."
Yes, she is part of the government, however, it is the sole responsibility of the President of the United States and the State Dept. to conduct foreign policy. Not the Speaker of the House.

Rep. David L. Hobson of Ohio, the lone Republican on the delegation, defended Mrs. Pelosi as helping the administration, according to the Dayton Daily News.
"We reinforced the administration's positions and at the same time we were trying to understand and maybe getting some voice to some things people wanted to say that maybe they were not comfortable saying to the administration," he told the newspaper.
This statement leads me to believe they did just that. I'm not saying that they should be charged but they should have never gone.
