Contrary to the wishes of the President and State Department, Speaker Pelosi went to Syria. Is this of any benefit to Americans and Americans?

No! When her plane lands she should be arrested and charged with treason...The rest of the turn coat politicians in Washington should also be charged with treason. There are many who I believe should be charged with it...Both Democrat and Republican.

I don't understand why you separate the President and the State Department. It is one of my greatest disappointments in this administration, that it is loaded with 'yes men' and parrots and little consideration is given to views other than its own.

I don't think it hurts to show other countries that there are actually people in America who think a coin has more than one side.

Absolutely not. I believe her motives were questionable and not in the best interest of our nation.

It would be a great trip for all us anti-politicians if they keep her there, but I guess that would be 2much 2hope for. Especially nice if she would take the other 434 members with her and they kept them all.

Default You're over reacting

Burdell - the person who started the thread was merely quoting what was in the press vis a vis the White House and the State Department -- you are trying to shoot the messenger.

Thanks for the thought Chloe, but that brings another question. Would any of our fine politicians in Washington have the intestinal fortitude fo bring her up on such a charge?

I guess (to me) the State Department (in theroy) looks at saftey issues when traveling abroad, the President's reponse would be political and pretty easily anticipated.

All you need to know about the trip is that our ex-worse president...Jimma Carter thinks it was a great idea. That sums it up nicely.

I was actually just trying to explain why I'm not troubled by Pelosi's trip, that I feel the Bush administration lacks depth. If that wasn't true I think Colin Powell would've lasted longer than he did as SoS. And Pelosi being second in line of succession surely makes her someone who should be involved in depth

And I would add that shortly after 9/11 Bush referred to the coming war as a 'crusade', I think that comment referring to what he surely knew was a battle fought in the Muslim world displayed an unacceptable lack of historical perspective and/or the sense of diplomacy/tact needed to succeed in international politics.
